Progressive Reloaders ?

I have a MEC 9000 and loving it. I also load the same 12 gauge hulls with 1 ounce and 7/8 ounces of shot so as to emulate 16 and 20 gauge, but understand that while they are close they don't quite have the same ballistics as true 16 and 20 gauge shotguns. The primary difference being the length of the shot column per my understanding, but at my level they are pretty much the same. Remember in competition a 12 gauge gun is considered a 12 regardless of the shot load achieved by use of various wads.

You may want to consider the MEC Grabber, a progressive which will not automatically advance the turret ever pull. Some find that it is less likely to cause problems and gives them more control over things. Some even disconnect the advance mechanism's linkage from their 9000. Than there are those that get an electric powered 9000H. I think it is the "H".

One consideration I didn't notice mentioned on this thread is the ammunition law soon to take effect. It only applied to ammunition and not to reloading supplies if I am correct.

if I was to go with the Mec series. From what I saw the cost to go to the 9000 is nominal (roughly 40-50 bucks) between the grabber and the 9000.

With the 9000, starting out while I get the hang of the machine, is it possible to stop it from auto indexing ? I figure I can manual index it in the beginning while im getting the settings right. Once I have the settings right I can setup the auto index

from what I have heard so far, it does not include reloading supplies, But I have heard a rumor that down the road you would need some kind of safety certificate to buy reloading supplies, but that could be B.S

A couple boxes is a lifetime supply for thugz and gangstas and that's easy enough for them to get. Milsurp blaster ammo is too cheap to bother reloading.

People that go to the expense and trouble of reloading are in the sport, shoot a lot and reload for quality and cost savings. Hopefully that keeps reloading supplies off the list.

What, bring logic into the law?
Unfortunately, I think (like every thing else that's been put into effect) they will try to eliminate the sport by making too costly/difficult to continue, with the hope we will all just give up.

Love that setup. Specially since it appears to be in an area with AC. Would suck to spill shot though.

As it is in the picture, yes, a spill would suck but it's a work in progress.
Since I had to remove the collet for a through cleaning, I took the time to add some 1/4 round along the sides and back of the bench and some moulding along the front that is 3/8" above the bench surface, this should contain most spills. In the morning I'm going to paint it with a gloss oil based paint, should help with clean-up in case of a spill.

How big do they let the squads get

5 or 6...
The shoots are usually about 120 shooters, depending on the weather.

I've been loading on these 3 MEC's for over 40 years now. They've reloaded tens of thousands of rounds without a single problem. I did change over the 650 to the newer primer feed system. (It came with the tube feed).

The 650 doesn't resize, while the 8567 Grabber does. So I run the cases through my MEC Case Conditioner before I load them on the 650. (The press on the far right in the top photo). It just resizes and deprimes. Both are excellent machines. But I would have to recommend the MEC 8567 Grabber, or else the MEC 9000 because of the fact they both have resizing built into them.

Resizing isn't really necessary in Trap loads shot from single shots or O/U's. But they can cause issues in feeding in some pumps and semi auto's. I chose the MEC 8567 Grabber over the 9000 because I wanted manual indexing. It makes less of a mess, and it's easier to clean up if there is a problem like a stuck powder bar. You just have more control with manual indexing, albeit it's a slightly slower press to operate.

Yes, very simple to do.
Unhook 1 spring and remove 1 part, it takes about 30 seconds or less.
