I just knew those easy 96 scores were only easy on the internet.

      And finally a great post.
The guns recommended match my list. Obviously that guy isn't a keyboard clay buster.

          Now that I believe!!!!!
Probably tried trap and bought 3-4 different guns just to shoot 20+ once in a great while and when you never won anything switched to skeet or 5 stand.
Probably a tacticool wannabe as well who gave up on that when you couldn't shoot 1/4 inch groups right?
          I smell a troll.

Kingair, I am late to the thread but I hope you take JD's advice above when considering a shotgun for shooting trap.

When you are just starting out, you'll still be in the process of establishing your shooting stance, hold points and general shooting preferences etc. At this point, having a specialized trap shotgun isn't all that useful. Heck, you might decide later that sporting clay and/or skeet is more fun and go shoot those regularly instead.

The pump action shotguns you've listed can do well but will be a bit of a handicap for you when you shoot doubles. I generally recommend going with a semi-auto instead, they are relatively cheap and give a lot of "bang for your bucks". I shoot for trap years with a Benelli Supersport, still do as I'm waiting for my new O/U to arrive.

Try a few semi-autos if you can borrow them, buy one and shoot until you are fairly consistent. At this point you would've gotten your first 25 or 50 straight and averages around 23/24 a round of singles. You'll be able to tell what are your preferences and what you like/dislike about your current gun, and will be able to make a better choice when you buy the next one.

Alternatively, if you have a bigger budget, consider getting an O/U shotgun such as the Beretta Silver Pigeon or Browning 725 Citori . They are more comfortable to shoot and easily to catch shells if you plan to reload later. They felt a lot more "solid" in their handling and shooting when compared to semi-autos. My wife got a Browning 725 Citori recently and it is a very nice gun for not a lot of money.

But none of those are “trap” guns.

Personally I’d put a $500 auto above a $500 O/U every day of the week. The Weatherby SA-08 gets high marks for a budget auto.

                Or the Beretta A300
Or the Remington from V3 - apparently the softest shooter
                Or a Mossberg 930
                Or . . .

                Endless . . .

I know but that will only increase the price with $ 150.00 or close . . .

$ 25.00 seems cheap but possible
Than you need to add the receiving fee of the FFL + some always charge taxes
Makes I pay the same price for a used - perhaps even more - compared to a new one

Still does not make the math.
You do not pay taxes since it is from CA to CA, means taxes been paid.

The gun is new, not used, so you still have some saving, or i miss something.

But you are right, you better buy a local used gun to save some green

Why moving to the V3 ?
