    Come on guys !
We are all here because we love guns and the shooting sports
Let's stay at the Calguns level and please don't lower ourselves like most do on Trapshooters or I will have to b a n you !
    We'll that's happens to me each time when I post a question there . . . lol

Regarding the Mec 9000 & the wads - yes that's correct - Lynn shipped it to me - without knowing it - as a present / 'incentive' to become a clay shooter
    Thanks again Lynn
Christmas was really early this year for sure !

I have spoken to most of the members posting in this thread - and we all are good guys !
Hope to shoot with all of you one day

BTW - my question was : what shotgun should I buy ?

Don't let the keyboard warriors scare you. Just go out there and shoot. I guarantee you you'll have a good time as majority of people will be more than willing to give you advice. I see you're in Bay Area, more than welcome to join me one of these days out in Morgan Hill at Coyote Valley!

Actually if you read the post by Brad G in his thread calling trapshooters old geezers you would quickly see that the sporting clays shooters don't like him.
The invite is still open to anyone posting here and too make it more interesting we will change it up a little bit.
The new wager is KingAir shooting my trapgun will outshoot any one of you posting here and I will run the trap thrower.
And if any of you beat him I will buy whatsup a tank of gas. And I have never met KingAir or seen him shoot.

Notice how none of them know anything about those targets?

Notice that they know nothing about those targets so let's see who actually shows up.

And if whatsup drives 2 hours we will have a special wager just for him. I will shoot my 25 rounds with my gun upside down and he can shoot his however he wants most broken birds out of 25.

I'm not a Trap shooter, not my cup of tea. That said, if you are just getting into any of the clay sports don't buy a dedicated gun. Buy a reliable gun to learn with, an 870 will do as will many others. As you learn to shoot, you will also learn what you like and don't like in a gun. You will also learn stance, mount, hold points, look points and break points. As you gain knowledge and experience you will be better able to pick the right gun for the task at hand.
It's a journey, enjoy it...Remember, the attitudes you see on an internet forum are rarely what you find at the local club.

PS: Trap and Skeet are not so much about the difficulty of the targets, they are very mental games. One mental error and you are out of the running.

PPS: Many championships in both have been won with a pump shotgun.

Probably a tacticool wannabe as well who gave up on that when you couldn't shoot 1/4 inch groups right?
                    I smell a troll.
you are the troll. you are the only one suggesting he get a dedicated trap gun, stay away from field guns, and you keep arguing with everyone about how hard trap is, while everyone's point is that trap has by far the easiest most boring targets. have you ever heard the saying, trap is easier to learn, skeet is easier to master? well, for comparative purposes, sporting clays and 5 stand must be impossible because perfect scores don't happen over and over every day! CA March 2018 shoot results, no perfect scores. see what i mean? harder targets? or are these just blowhard internet trolls that cant shoot like all of us here? these guys probably wouldn't be able to hit 15/25 from 3 either..

I will post a picture that all these amateurs have never seen before.
And I wager none of them can break 15 out of 25 from the number 3 straightaway position at 16 yards.
                    Any takers?
I will make it easier on the sub Jr's. We can use a hand trap in April and video the event.
have seen my fair share. was a member at a working club for quite some time. btw, did you know.. if you throw the targets faster, and spin them more, they are easier to break when you hit them! don't tell the other trap shooters! they love complaining about how the targets are too fast, slow, orange, round...

And if 2 hours is too much travel time for you shooting clays most likely won't be in your future.
I am driving 11 hours to shoot a 3000 yard match which is the only reason I will be there. Nobody here has ever shot targets like I posted have you?

I will send you the patch in the picture just let me know how many you want. They call them scare patches. LOLROFLMAO
you just need to make it more of an incentive. 2 hour drive to just prove a troll wrong is a waste of time.

Actually now admits to working at a range but won't comment on those birds? Why? Have you ever seen birds like that before? Ever shot one?
And this no I'll will towards you as the American education has obviously failed you but the OP asked about a beginning trap gun. The hint was TRAP gun.
Now as to you actually showing up that one is easy.
I am willing to shoot my gun upside down for all 25 shots. If you want I will post a picture of how it's done. You get to stand on position 3 for all 25 shots and I will shoot a normal course of fire. It doesn't get any easier than that does it?

                              I don't know.

I shoot with a lot of 5-stand guys who can shoot 18-20 on the 5-stand and 10 minutes later only shoot only 18-20 on the 16 yd trap.
