I like this idea and I'm all ears if you know somebody. I called a local smith I found online and he said he'd isn't know anyone that did this type of work. Buying a new barrel for everyday use seems like a good idea, but something in me wants to preserve the original parts.

You do realize that by not disclosing the manufactuer, you're really tying the hands of those that are trying to help. If nothing else, we could possibly recommend a gunsmith that specializes in the work you want.

Listen , we`re not going to jump on you for buying a inferior product
but can probably find you a smith to repair it. Anybody who knows anything about brazing and silver soldering can repair it

I'm not saying I need to be made whole, yes it was a used gun, but when I buy it at a dealer is it really unreasonable to expect fitness for purpose? Like he could say man that sucks, I really don't owe you anything, but I appreciate your business here's a $50 gift certificate towards your next purchase. Am I really a communist for having this expectation?
The LGS should just give you a lollipop and send you on your way and not care too much about losing your business or your almighty referrals.

you never know what issues you will inherit with a used gun.

look at it as an opportunity to upgrade

Contact the manufacturer & see what they say & how much it cost to repair. Probably not expensive.

This why I always buy new guns or expect a substantial reduction in price when buying used.

The LGS gave a 30 day warranty for a reason.

Buying anything used is always a gamble.

Just remember every other part has the same wear and tear on it and the next accident could be worse. Good luck
Uh, what does the age of the firearm have to do with not getting hurt? I've seen people severely injured by malfunctions from "new" guns. Sorry, but I'd rather own a gun with parts that have been tested and proven than a "new" gun that could have a flaw in the material. Just remember that brand new guns shooting factory ammo have blown up on people.

I've had problems with new guns that ended up costing me several overnight shipping charges (more than the new parts were worth). I'd take a used gun over a new gun any day. I'm so glad that some people don't like to buy used guns. It keeps the demand (and prices) down a bit.

Did anyone try removing the barrel by prying up on the joint?Looks loks somebody hammered a chisel in there to separate it. Considering the barrel dosent move ,why the chatter marks ion the mag tube.

In the pic the barrel lug is closer toward the receiver than it would reside when attached to the barrel. It naturally sits on the far right edge of pic. The wear in in the bluing on the mag tube is from the action of the forend. It was a clean break, in that in the area you highlight any negative space on the lug remains as positive space on the barrel, but that doesn't show up so well in the pic.

Why would a businessman ignore the potential to collect future cash flows? Sounds to me like you are making this too emotional.

I believe you are misunderstanding his statement.

He believes that you clearly have unreasonable expectations and that you over react to the consequences of bad purchase decisions.

Further, he believes that high maintenance customers such as yourself are likely to generate more trouble than repeat business...

After all, the 30 day warranty was not sufficient for you after the fact, although you clearly knew about it at the time of purchase...
