    Mossberg 500 Accessories

Are there any reputable companies to get accessories from?

Or are they all pretty much the same?

I have been looking on eBay, and have found some pretty good looking parts, but since this is going on a gun, I don't want to put some knock off stuff on it.

So far, I have seen some AIM, Trinity Supply, and Hogue.

Do I really need any of this stuff? I definitely like the look, but don't want to just make this thing weigh 100 pounds, haha.

As for parts, I have seen fore fronts, heat shields, grips, and M4 style butt stocks

Another question, is that I have seen some tri-rail fronts, that wont work with later than 2008 I believe. Is there a way to convert the newer ones to pre-2008 spec?

I have also seen some nice fore fronts that seem to be new spec.

But this her3, this is ok. This is how i currently have them now. The top shotgun in both pics is an 870 with a blackhawk non recoil reducing stock, and front grip. I think the 870 takes it when it comes to looks.

Hmmmm..... Not really a fan of the side saddles....

I do like the M4 stock and grip though.....

For the light, the surefire looks awesome, but is quite spendy, almost as much as my gun!

Missed it by a few years but i think psa was getting rid of them in 2014, some insane prices, like buying the shotgun and getting the surefire fore grips for free.

ok, so this is a little too much for me:

            But I wouldn't mind:

with possibly like an EOTech on it (or cheaper, I mean it is mostly for HD, although I will be playing with it at the range)

              Firepower

Adaptive tactical makes a conversion kit that lets you add magazines. They've recently redesigned the forend to include rails.

Mesa gear is as solid as it gets. If you want to pistol-grip a Mossberg, there's not a solution better than their hydraulic recoil-absorbing stock kit. Their sidesaddles, clamps and rails are top-notch as well.

Hogue and Magpul are GTG for ergonomics. Nordic makes quality magazine extensions and clamps, and GG&G sling adapters are up there too.

I would totally get the magazine adapter... haha, really not looking to spend that much though..... and for HD, that 5 rounds I have should be more than enough.....

Oh yeah, how many rounds can I have in my 500? I can't seem to find any solid info

"Can" as in legally? 10 max. California PC 16740:

As used in this part, "large-capacity magazine" means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:

                    (a) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.

                    (b) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.

                    (c) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.

I meant the capacity of my shotgun...

This is the one I got

That model looks like 5+1. Five down the tube, one in the chamber.

If you're looking to increase capacity, you can add length to the magazine tube to your heart's content -- up to 10 rounds, of course -- like below. (I prefer to clamp the extension to the barrel at some appropriate point.) Here's one option.

You don't want to put a pistol grip on a 500/590 since the safety is mounted on top of the receiver, it will make it very hard to manipulate. As a rule for all guns you want to be able to work your safety quickly and efficiently. If you want a pistol grip then buy a Mossberg 88 with a trigger guard mounted safety, just be aware that the 88's fore grip is a single piece and adding a different fore end will require you buying additional parts. As for railed fore ends there is no use and will make your gun very heavy. The SureFire fore grip with the integral light is the best option just be sure to buy a LED version. The reason is you want a pressure pad activation vs a flash light that you have to push with your thumb. Under recoil you can actually sprain your thumb due to the forces exerting backwards as you push forward. MagPul makes the best accessories for all guns that is both quality, battle proven and the best value for your money vs the Ebay crap that will fail you at the worst time.

I don't think Mossberg 500s have a tube extension that fits without custom modifications. The barrel bracket screws into the end of the magazine tube, which is a solid piece, with no detachable end cap.

Dangit! I was curious about the Maverick 88 originally as it was almost $100 cheaper, but everyone said get the 500....
