I've had a mixed bag from MidwayUSA. Some backorders were cancelled, but I've also received others ordered many moons ago.

I was surprised to get emails that my backorders have arrived and will be shipping shortly. It had been so long I'd completely forgotten about it .

It's like watching grass grow; maybe it's best to just place the order and move on to more interesting things.

Midway USA IS honoring backorders, I have received quite a few backordered .22 lr items from them over the past two years. Every time they get a shipment of .22 lr in a percentage goes to the list of backorders and a percentage gets listed on their website for immediate sale.

While its not fair for those already waiting in line for the ammo, its fairer for their other customers. Midway can choose to do this if they want, its their policy.

People just need to take a deep breath, the .22 shortage will be eventually over and there should be a period of time those caught with their pants down can really stock up.

Midway is actually not doing well financially from what I've seen. They have been laying people off all year.
Everyone on Calguns keeps talking about TDS. I never knew we had so many fish keepers!

The TDS on my 10gallon tanks 110ppm
The TDS on my 29 gallon tank is 150ppm (due to substrate)

Backorders for high volume, high demand items with low availability and extremely long lead times (a year?) are a major PITA to manage. Credit cards expire, people move, they forget they have an order, they no longer want it etc.

That said, they shouldn't accept backorders for items they can't determine when they might receive it .. and they seem to do that. I've looked at several things that they wouldn't accept backorders for, for long times.

Also, multiple items on and order can delays things if anything is backordered. Plus their policy says they cancel all backorders over 1 year old.

          Here's their policy statement:

          What is your Backorder Policy?
We do everything possible to get your backorders out as quickly as possible while minimizing shipping costs.

When you only have one product on backorder, we ship it out as soon as it’s received. When you backorder multiple products on a single invoice, we hold all of those products so they ship together. Once any backordered product has been in our warehouse for 90 days, we automatically ship that product to you, as well as any of your other backordered products in stock at that time. All backorders ship via the most economical shipping method possible.

Backorders open longer than 365 days will be cancelled.

I had a similar issue with them some time ago. I had placed a backorder for a case of CCI-MM. I waited patiently and watched the site. Eventually they started selling individual boxes (for a considerably higher price). I contacted CS first via email, to no avail, then via phone. They were slightly more helpful on the phone, but still were not going to honor my order.

Finally, I used the talk to Larry email link. Explained the situation, politely, that it seemed to me that they were profiteering on the higher price whole ignoring backorders. They had it in stock, but weren't sendng me my order.

Couple days later I got a shipping notice that the order was on the way.

If it is the exact same item, and they have it in stock, they should be honoring the orders previously placed.

            Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

            Good luck.
            Sorry, not sorry.

Midway, like the rest of us, probably did not think the ammo shortage for .22lr would last this long. Now they have millions of rounds on backorder that will take XX years to fill. So they blew off the backorders . Yea, it is kind of dirty pool, but understandable. Thought all of this shortage Midway and Cabals have held their prices at reasonable rates. Other ( and we all know who they are) have turned into over the top GOUGERS! When the shortage passes, I will still do business with Midway and Cabalas. The rest can FO.

Yep Midway allowed backorders on .22 lr until late December 2012, amd started allowing backorders again October 2013 and it lasted a few months.

I've received ammo from both backorder periods, although I have not received anything since January of this year.

having multiple backorders and received notice that they have come in stock . finally called they said they wont ship cases of ammo as a new policy so if you have bought in cases they wont be shipping them any time soon. not that they will never ship as I asked but don't know when they will lift the policy. I say bullsheet

All these guys play games with what SKU exactly it's being sold under. If they get in a case do they sell it as a case or do they break it up into smaller units? If they can sell the smaller units for more why wouldn't they do that?

Where Midway is really lame is on powder. They'll announce they have it, and then it turns out they're just passing the order onto the maker and you'll get it in 4-6 weeks. Then 4-6 weeks later they send you a note saying never mind, they didn't get some after all and your order is cancelled.

I have a backorder for a case of mini mags from 2013. I'd like it if it shows up and I made sure it's on a Visa that doesn't expire for a couple of years but I don't really expect to ever see it. If it does, great, I can always use more mini mags but it's not part of my planning.

Likewise I have a couple of cases of .22 on order from the CMP that I DO expect eventually but again, they're not part of my planning.

Unless we can convince Midway to change their policy, all backorders expire 1 year after placing if not fulfilled.

My guess is when Midway started allowing backorders again on .22 lr in Oct 2013, they didn't predict the shortage would last this long. No doubt they have thousands of unfilled backorders and are pissing customers off and probably losing customers.

Oh, great. Well, that's another reason to buy elsewhere. I haven't bought anything from them since they cancelled my powder order but canceling that backorder would move them from "store of last resort" to "never again."

+1 If I don't get at least one of my four .22 lr backorders before they expire Midway will be added to my S-list along with CTD.

                              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I had M&P 22 mags back ordered for 5 months Email and text came in 9:15pm. I happen to be sitting at the computer clicked on the link and ordered 9:30pm Pacific time.

what if you place a back order every other month. I think the trick is you have to have email alerts and text notification. and place the order within minutes of their notifications

I had another item and a day later clicked it was out of stock again. cant get them all.
Log in and check on your back orders. I canceled a couple that I bought locally.

                                better luck next time
