Selling guns is always a bad choice in my opinion however most of this is a result of perception rather than reality. So as long as there's players, there will be a scarcity game.
If this is based on the perception of a gun grab then as somebody already appropriately stated...it's the new reality..........unless of course you think there's a huge number of gun friendly folks about to assume office throughout this land and rescue us all.

A new generation of young shooters is in the process of becoming a vanishing breed.

Antis and hoarders = a marriage made in hell!
OP, you are nuts for selling your guns for the temporary lack of cheap .22 ammo. You will surely regret it..

What you call "hoarders" is not the problem with the "shortage" of .22 ammo. There is no "shortage" in the first place..

The "shortage" of .22 ammo on the shelves at a retail level comes from those that did not "hoard"..No such damn thing as hoarding ammo..Get over the jealously of having no ammo and insulting those that were smart enough to "hoard" it as you say..

If everyone was prepared for this kind of thing as I and some others are. There would be no "shortage"..What drives the high prices and so called "shortages" on the shelves are the fools that buy it at 100.00 a brick. These people anger me beyond belief.

Stop buying from the flippers and the prices will drop like a rock and the supply will actually reach the retail level instead of being interrupted by asses to put it on Gunbroker for idiots to buy.

Get over it. You have no ammo because you did not buy any and prepare yourself.

This is nothing new. It has happened in the past and will again if you do not take it upon yourself to be ready next time..

I am sick of being insulted by people calling me a ugly word like a "hoarder" Stop it already. I am not the problem..You are..

I am not responsible in the least for the "shortage". If everyone was like me. There never would have been a artificial "shortage" created in the first place.

There is no "shortage" of ammo. Just look. You will find all you can possibly shoot, if you are stupid enough to pay the price.. Again understand there is NO SHORTAGE of .22 ammo. Plenty for sale..Just not at the retail level because of a market created by those dumb enough to pay stupid pricing..

I in fact I have never had a shortage of ammo. As long as the flippers have a captive audience. They will continue to interrupt the normal supply chain and sell the ammo to fools..UNDERSTAND

I am also tired of hearing the stuff like "Oh the children will never shoot again because of the evil hoarders" Stop that crap already too. Reminds me of something right out of a Liberal playbook.. I do not need to hear a sob story trying to pull at my strings that your kid has no ammo. Mine do and that is because I am responsible and have supplied it for them. If you did not..Too bad..You failed them. Not I or anyone you may choose to call a "hoarder"

Oh and if you guys think .22 is hard to find. I would gladly trade some of my .22 for hard to find stuff like 38-40. or even .30 Carbine..

Other than selling to upgrade or fund a new build, any time someone sells a gun its a win for the antis. especially when its sold out of frustration.
I must keep all my guns now then.

The wifey and I just picked up consecutive serial #d Walther P22's
        with a laser for $358.00 each {NIB}.

Most Ruger and S&W's will be unavailable by the end of the year.
With the new P22 'Q' models out ,the Walther P22 will soon be gone also.

Cabellas used to sell Federal blue box {525} @ 4/$75.00 with a dry storage
box. I bought 20 dry boxes. It was a good deal 2 years ago.

Your logic is flawed. If he is selling his guns, that means that someone else is buying guns.

It wasn't hoarding back then ,it was just smart shopping. NOW I hoard !
I have a friend that bought a PALLET of Yugo 7.62x39 in crates of 1260 rnds 2 years ago..
That's 48 crates, each crate was $200.00 shipped.
They go for $600.00+ on G/B now.

True. Plus my kids would not have fun blasting 9/40/45 all day like they do 22. Not to mention their guns are all rifles. Prices may never come down to what they used to be. Raw materials have gone up, stocking/hoarding have the supply limited, and manufacturers see the demand and have/are raising prices. Anything under .10 per round is a deal in today's market.

I disagree that prices are higher. I just bought a 550 Federal pack at Walmart last week for 21.97. I believe that was the same price as two years ago.

You cannot set prices by what a few fools are willing to pay,. Because I and 1000s of others will not pay those crazy prices..Ever

Ammo prices may actually drop when it gets in abundance at the retail level again..

I am sorry but if you are stupid enough to pay 50.00 a brick for something I paid 21.97 for last week. That is not very bright in my book anyway....

I have been very tempted many times to take these fools to the cleaners myself. They just tempt you and ask for it

But I always decide not to..

If u buy in bulk, and not 100 here and there, your chances of having ammo when u need it is greater.

I really miss my Colt Woodsman. Wish I had never sold it.

But I take some consolation that I can still hunt for small game with my brand spanking new 5.56x45mm Mini (which is really a 5.7). The only difference is that the 5.56 (which is really a 5.7) splits, guts, and bleeds the rabbit or squirrel for you. Ya just need ta rinse it off with a bit o' water and th'ow it over a fire!

I always buy my 5.56x45 (which is really 5.7) in bulk. Still comes to about 50c per cartridge, but not a bad price at that.

Yes but this might take years when it comes to .22 lr ammo unfortunately.

                            You're not trying hard enough.

                            I have 5k of 22lr ammo.

I know its not enough like some guys here that have 1,000,000,00 but i will continue to find and hoard more.
