    10/22 Not Happy !

After buying a stainless 10/22 I was pumped to run some rounds through before doing some stck and optic mods, only to be pissed off by the terrible round jamming in the mag and the receiver.
Anyone out there have the same problem with this rifle ?

Wondering if I should have gone with a non rotary mag gun...

Nope... Ran lots of roudns through 3 different magazines without a single failure.

    What ammo are you using?

Did you perchance clean & lube it before taking it out?

The receiver is painted and if you use a harsh solvent like Gunblaster or such the paint peels & turns into a gooey mess that really bollockses things up.

I bought a new in the box 10/22 stainless in 1999. Total pos, failures to fire, eject & feed. Lightstrikes also. I rarely shot it, but tried now & then. Fed-up, I put a Wolff spring kit in the trigger assy. It had a bent firing pin spring that was installed backwards, from the factory. I also installed a VQ extractor & spring. I think I spent about 35$ I learned to disassemble & clean the mags & have never looked back. I can't remember the last failure at all for the one 10/22 I have, not even a light strike. Start with a detailed cleaning, including scrubbing the chamber. Youtube has videos for mag cleaning/assy. 10/22's are extremely easy to completely disassemble for me.

Hmmm.... What type of malfunctions are you getting (type I, II or III)? Is it having problems ejecting casings? Is it failing to fire? Is it not feeding a round into the chamber? Need a little more info than that to help diagnose the specific problem.

I changed quite a bit on my 10/22 (Volquartsen bolt release/target hammer kit, extended mag release, exact edge extractor, and recoil buffer) and it eats any ammo I throw in it. Never had a problem with mine and if it's malfunctioning it's most likely the ammo.

I would wager that more .22 has been sent down range out of 10/22s than any other firearm.

Not saying you might not have received a lemon, but they've been selling the same rifle for just shy of 50 years. It works.

I'm not sure about your situation exactly I know I have several 10/22s and they run 100%. Besides some ammo related malfunction maybe once per brick or so. They are very reliable rifles in mine and all my family and friends 10/22s.

It may be that its a brand new gun and could use a little lube and/or break in. I'd be curious what ammo you are using though???

I shot a brand new 10/22 this past week for the first time. Ran 100 rounds of Federal LR through it with not a single problem. I was 100% pleased. 10/22s have to be some of the funnest guns to shoot.

You need to shoot it more. Most that I've seen get better once broken in.
