    Cmmg wasp dedicated .22lr

So i had another thread here that really helped me decide to go ar22. I ended up purchasing the cmmg complete upper, even though i really want all the taccom parts because they look choice, i got a deal on it so...anyways the reason im posting again is for the RANGE REVIEW!

So i set out to ontarget with an unopened box of federal 525 and about a hundred golden bullet remingtons. Probably the crappiest rimefire ammo out there right? Or at least the cheapest consistently. My goal...shoot all the ammo i came with to get a good idea of how this rifle was going to behave. Surprisingly, or not my least favorite part of the build all had to do with any and all ca compliant parts. I learned today why the ar15 comes standard with 30 round mags, and even worse how much bbs suck.

Anyways i went without any boresighting, and just threw on a center point scope i had for my 10/22. The rifle was hitting a little right so i adjusted it using rounds, which i have never done before. Kinda cool for a nooby. I wS waiting for the jams, And then after an hour i as waiting for one jam. That jam/malfunction never happened to my surprise. I still cant believe it! Accuracy was obviously better than i as i have zero training.

I bought a 10/22 last year about this time of year, and just got it back from the warranty dept. i did the same reliability test to it and had a consistent fail to eject at least once on every single mag, and i had six factory 10rounders to test with. I kept telling myself that it was rimfire and that why people shouldnt use rimfire for sd/hd, but dang.

Ok dont know what else to say, but i am really happy right hahaha thanks for listening.

Glad you had fun. Always wanted a rimfire AR.

Sounds like you are really liking it. Did you get to do any 'rapid fire' there?

If by rapid fire you mean a three count quick pull while multiple shooter were also firing then yeah, but nothing near what i would like to do. I like the range but they sure are strict there, and i have been booted before so i try to follow the rules lol. Ps i got booted from party members not my own behavior.

Is the face of the buffer getting beat up from the rear of the bolt carrier.

Huh interesting you say that, because i did notice what looks like machine wear on the face of the buffer. It looks like there are small pits or hits from a very small punch. There are also scratches going from the center of the buffer towards the outer edge. Also the pits are mostly on the edge of the buffer. I wonder if this could be wear from the retainer pin for the buffer and spring. Maybe because it is basically a conversion upper that shouldn't utilize any of the buffer assembly mechanism, causes the buffer to bounce back just enough to bang against that detent pin thing to make those marks. What i cant figure out is the scratches that lead from the center of the buffer, in straight lines towards the edge of the buffer. Ill probably order the buffer thing from taccom just to make sure my buffer doesn't take unnecessary wear, and creat malfunctions for other uppers.

Big question though...i built this on a jd lower. Do i have to utilize a bullet button with this build? I have a bb and tool that allows me to either use the tool to push the bb or i can line it up and screw the tool into the bb and use it like an over sized mag release. Is that okay to do since with the upper it is a rimfire long gun?

No need for BB on rimfire.

Even though the lower isn't dedicated?

From my understanding, the straight line scratches are from the weld on the back of the carrier. Yep, i think that taccom rubber bumper thingy for the front of the buffer is the way ta go.

Federal bulk is by far my favorite of the bulk ammo. Not crappy at all.
Also, what lordres said. No need for a bullet button on a rimfire rifle.
There is not such thing as a "dedicated" lower AR receiver(that I know of) that only allows rimfire to be used.
When you change the upper receiver, or bolt in the case of a kit, you have essentially performed "gunsmithing" which has changed the firearm. As long as you don't put a centerfire upper on top without first making the lower compliant(Bullet button), then you are GTG. Installing a centerfire bolt or upper is manufacturing, and you can easily manufacture a cali AW if you are not careful.
All this is true unless something has changed in the last year that I am no aware of...

I think there are "dedicatated" lowers. Instead of saying "multi" they say .22 Cal. (thus dedicated) Some one was showing them on here....cant remember who.

CMMG .22 lr uppers are absolutely top notch, mine has been reliable, accurate, and too much fun to shoot.

If your not having enough fun shooting, a .22 lr AR is in order.
