Exactly. Other than limits intended to spread the supply around, vendors want to sell all they can NOW. This hyper-demand (which I believe is being fueled by not only shooters but by prepper's who see .22 ammo as TOTWAWKI money) is not going to last for ever and eventually prices are going to drop,

There's no such thing as gouging. People will pay what they believe is worth their money and time to acquire good they deem necessary. Pricing something too high and the goods don't move. Retailers hate inventory. It costs money to hold inventory. Pricing something too low and people without the pressing need will buy it, then turn around to sell for a profit. It is in the retailer's best interest to price the good right around the equilibrium price.

The confusion comes in when buyers don't agree with what the current equilibrium price is.

I think Cabela's has been great for us rimfire shooters, instead of standing in line for a hour or more and walking away with nothing at Walmart I have been able to pickup 22 & 17 at fair prices and the shipping is great.

Cabelas has been very fair and ethical through this shortage period. I have bought and shot a lot of .22 LR and .22 WMR from them this year.

I don't consider it hoarding at all. I'd prefer they sell a little more at a time sometimes. I don't mind paying a reasonable shipping price, but 100 rounds is a joke!

OP, seriously...just find some time & stock up. Then you can be more selective. The ammo thing nowadays only bothered me when I didn't have any, or couldn't go shooting.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

The way I see it through tracking info. Cabela's only handles the online invoices. And even these are automated. The bulk product goes straight to the shipper (ups) who handles packing and shipping out.
I may be wrong but it seams that way.

I know that my local Cabelas does not horde any ammo. Good friend works there part time and keeps me up on when its going out. They do put it on the shelf at odd times but that is simply based on how there inventory system and there employee scheduling works.

Good prices, great shipping rates, and consistent inventory. Other than the 1 per order limit, I can't ask much more of Cabelas. In my book, they're GTG.

I totally understand this. Anyhow, sorry If I sound whinny, I didn't mean for it to come off like that. Just a little fed up with the one box limits (like everyone else) when trying have some fun with my new toy. It seems like most people don't even buy the one boxes because its not worth it so the idea of them spreading it around really isn't as helpful as ya'll make it sound.

If they wanted to move inventory fast I would think releasing it and allowing more than 1 box when they had it would move it a lot faster. But that wouldn't be "fair" now would it.

Cabela's is a great company, I just wished they would let customers buy a little bit more than they allow for .22s

There are people at the Cabelas warehouse that pack their orders. Almost all my orders had the boxes taped up and sometimes there's an inventory sticker on some of the boxes. Plus sometimes you get the freebie samples. 5 Hour Energy YEA!!!

Totally agreed. However, a limit of 1 per bulk ammo is fine by me in these times.

Yea the 100 boxes or smaller seem to be a waste unless there's other ammo available and/or there is a shipping promotion. However, if there are RGB 525 packs available, I'm buying. Shipping kills it but I don't waste gas and get trampled at Big 5.
