J&G Sales in AZ had 22LR Colt, 40gr lead round nose solid, 500rd box.
    http://www.jgsales.com/-p-61821.html not cheap though!
I picked up 4 50rd boxes(the limit for 2 people) Winchester Varmint LR's $6.99ea. at Cabela's Reno last Thursday. Weekdays are best if shopping there!
A couple weeks ago I got 500 Agulla Super Extra from Midway for $50 shipped. If you look long enough you'll find .22's at a decent price.

It went really fast, but as a "for the record" thing - SGAmmo had a bunch of CCI Standard for 10.1 cents a round delivered, limit 1K rounds... but they were damaged boxes. Cracked cases, maybe a few bad rounds. And they still went almost instantly.

The ammo situation's clearly getting better but the big retailers can sell pretty much any .22 at 10 cents/round if they want to.

What leads you to conclude the ammo situation is getting better?

Observation. Everything from the fact that prices for .22 are collapsing on gunbroker (and I was selling for a while so I have a really good idea what things were going for - I sold a ton of mini mags at 22.5 cents a round) to the fact that Freedom Munitions often has 9mm .40 and .45 in stock - I could have bought 500 rounds each every day for the last few days if I was so inclined - to the fact that gunbot used to have no .22 for under .40 cents a round and now it routinely has stuff at around the .16 cent level. Limits are slowly going up at some places - 2 bricks instead of 1, or at least places like Natchez where you can usually get a brick of 2-3 different types if they have stuff you can use.

Do we have a long way to go? Yes. Good deals still sell out instantly and the limits need to go back up to full case quantities (1K most things, 5K .22). Some calibers like .223 are hard to find at all. But a couple of months ago you were lucky to find anything at any price.

              Hello,
I'm new to this ammo buying thing. I just bought my first gun and now I'm trying to find some ammo. Yesterday, I tried to use Gunbot to buy some ammo. I waited a few hours and suddenly it played the sound alert and there was some CCI Minimags for $.08/rd so I tried to buy it, but before I could check out, it was already sold out. (This happened in about 10 seconds).

Today, something similar happened again. Is this the way it always is?

              EDIT:
I just managed to add 2 boxes of 100rd CCI Minimags to my cart on Natchezss but it turns out that shipping is $18 on a $17 order which makes it nearly $0.18 a rd so I didn't buy it.

Yeah, pretty much all this year. People pile on the gunbot deals very quickly. Either you have to run your own searches and find it before gunbot or you have to check sites that aren't on gunbot (I think both Grafs and Natchez aren't on there).

Is Natchez's shipping always so expensive? Which sites ship cheap to California?

Gander gives free shipping with orders over $50. It has a 9 buck service charge tho
                    Midway is $20
                    15 to 20 seems normal

You have to look at the whole picture right now. SGAmmo and Freedom Munitions (for centerfire), as an example, have reasonable shipping but no deals. Not crazy prices, just high. Cabelas for another example is selling things pretty much at pre-panic prices but with crazy low limits, like 100 rounds of mini mags. If you're buying other stuff from them it's a nice bonus but basically they're doing it for goodwill for existing customers.

I'm hoping that in the fall things will be close enough to normal to start stocking up at sgammo and ammunitiontogo so that I'll be set so I don't have to worry about ammo permits or whatever the hell's going on for a year or two.

I doubt it will last long, but the non-blemished CCI Standard showed up. 11 cents/round delivered.

Update: Sure enough, OOS right away. Oh, well.

The gold match is gone but they have mini mags now.

Unfortunately this is the norm these days. Another issue that looms on the horizon is a proposed law here in CA to prohibit internet ammo sales to us lawful citizens. Hasn't passed yet but its in the pipeline. So a decision has to be made by gunowners in CA whether we want to pay more for ammo now on the internet or pay more later when (if) the new bill becomes law.

New requirements will be put on the gunshops to run a yearly background check on the buyer before ammo is purchased and some other stuff as well which will drive up the cost in CA (my prediction). I will assume that company's like Walmart will no longer sell ammo in CA because all ammo purchases have to go thru an FFL holder (Fed Firearm License) which Walmart does not hold in CA. All this if of course based on whether the proposed bill becomes law.

You may want to consider buying better ammo, such as Wolf Match Target or SK Std+ that sells for around $50/500. So $0.10 a round + shipping and far superior to any bulk ammo that currently sells for more than that in many places. Purchased by the case reduces cost and saves on shipping. Expensive to buy a case but you will eventually spend the money piece meal anyway over time.

Bought a box of the Federal Bulk 325, and it is still up after an hour and a half since the posting. I'd expected it to be gone already.
