Probably playing the supply & demand game IMHO... Could be both though. I dont know, but I do know I have been able to purchase more .22lr in the past couple weeks than I have since last year.... So maybe there is some truth to the rumors.

they are probably focusing more of their efforts on center fire ammo.

I think the demand increased and manufactures can't keep up with the demand. Many bigger caliber gun owners probably shoots more .22lr now than ever as well as many new first time gun owners who bought .22lr caliber as their first gun. I'm sure the ammo manufactures don't mind their profit margin too....

Many are still in panic mode and stocking up on their supply. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of .22lr for sale on this forum once this ammo shortage ends.... whenever that may be.....

There are higher profit margins on larger center fire rounds plus the availability of lead and brass is the cause for the decrease in 22. That's at least what my LGS had explained to me, makes sense when you think about it.
If you only have supply of materials for making one type what one are you going to do the one that makes you more money or the one that boarder line costs you money.

Wow, thanks! Just ordered a box using Cabelas club points. I opened a cabelas visa account in December and when my wife asked me why do we need another credit card, I told her "so that I can use their points and get free ammo"...oh well, we live in very interesting times...

Thanks was able to pick up a box myself. Was thinking about signing up for Visa card too but didn't want to chance filling out application and then it selling out.
