a little off topic, but what is everyone storing their new ammo in? I am not a huge fan of the flimsy boxes they come in and not really sure I want to buy a bunch of plastic or metal ammo cans just for .22 bulk.

you may not want to, but the mil surplus cans cannot be beat.

Agreed! .22 LR are one of the most sought after ammo calibers. You should protect and safely secure them.

you guys just dump it all in the cans or put the boxes in there? I use a can for my .40, but I have so much variety that I keep it in the individual boxes. But I am going to have a LOT more .22 than .40 now.

The large plastic dry boxes you can get (sometimes) for $7 or $8 will hold over 5000 rds of .22 in their original boxes. Add a $3 silica gel tin and that's cheap insurance.

50 cal ammo cans. It will hold about 6 or 7 boxes of the Federal bulk 525 if you dump it out. I just kept one portion of the box so I have the lot number and info just in case. For the other ones in 50 or 100 round boxes I put those in other ammo cans.

When I head to the range I just take a quart size ziploc freezer bag and grab a couple of handfuls and throw that in my range bag and off I go.
