Yep...50 cal cans. The saw fat 50 cans can hold six of these bricks perfectly side by side with about a couple inches of room on top to spare.

I think storing .22 lr loose in ammo cans is the way to go(for bulk packs), much more efficient use of space. Put a moisture absorber in there forget about them.

Does anyone know how many rounds of loose .22 lr fit in a 50 cal ammo can?

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

I do something similar. I have a .50 ammo can with Federal bulk ammo repackaged in plastic bags of 400 rounds each for long term storage. I fit 4,000 rounds with little room left, so I would guess about 4,500 - 5,000 rounds.

Bein' run like a discount whorehouse .. by hand. Probably rackin' up a lot of legitimate cc numbers though, especially from newbies. If they have yours .. maybe monitor your cc more closely amigos. Just sayin'

I need to find me some 9mm ammo! I have close to 1K of .22lr which should last me forecer since I only have an old school single shot rifle for it. Thing is more fun to shoot than a barrel of monkeys

Let us know how many fit if you do. I really need to organize all my .22 lr ammo, I am thinking about putting the bulk stuff loose in ammo cans hopefully a can holds a full 5000 round case loose. (Of course keep brands separate.)

The boxed up stuff like MiniMags I'll leave in their package and just put as many as I can fit in a 50 cal ammo can. Moisture absorber in each can, and good to go for years of storage.

I have to say, i am very impressed with midway.com! I ordered 500 rounds of .22lr "22 subsonic" by remington on the 24th and recieved it today on the 27th. Will buy again! Not bad for $33!

Now i wait for those two 2k bricks i ordered from cabelas

I now have 3750 ar Tacticals still in their 375ct boxes, with room for three more if I just put in the boxes. If I was to dump them out I figure I could get at least 3 more boxes, maybe more in there. I figure I will vacuum pack them in 500 rd. blocks formed to the bottom of the .50 can and see how many I can fit.

Minimags fit exactly 30 jewel boxes in the standard .50 can in a 17 and 13 configuration, or exactly 16 vertically stacked in a standard .30 can. I haven't seen the Fat .50's in person so I don't know about those. And here is a good source for silica gel packets, I use the 5 gram packs for a .50 can. For those of you that like a nice fresh smell when opening your ammo cans, they also make scented ones. I will try to post a pic tomorrow of the .50 minimag configuration.

I started getting my .22 lr ammo organized today and filled my first ammo cans with loose ammo. Here is 11 bricks, 5775 rounds, of Remington Golden Bullets in a 50 cal can. Just about full, enough room for a oxygen absorber.

Here is 4000 rounds of Aguila Supermaximum I took out of their boxes and dumped into a ammo can. Their boxes are big and bulky and take up way too much space.
