Guessing yikes is to the factory guard price haha.
Hope you have fun at the range and that its trouble free. If you followed the directions it should work great. Some people that over do the screws it doesn't work for them obviously. That and not putting loctite on are the 2 biggest mistakes. Still first time I went to the range I brought the tiny hex key it needed. But it worked flawlessly for me.
BTW shameless plug! The IE monthly shoot is tonight and the competition this month is Rimfire Rifles! My 795 will be there. Hope there will be some others representing!
So if you don't have any plans head on out! The link to more info is in my Sig!Comment

Here's one of three I built a year or so ago.
Two are 795s; the other is a 60
All have DIP triggers and guards, spring kits, and tech sights. The green 795 with the Boyds Hunter stock has a Williams WGRS 54 rear sight. The other 795 has a Boyds Thumbhole stock. The 60 has the OG stock.Last edited by beardog308; 06-21-2015, 1:57 PM.Comment

Bipod
Somewhere in this or the earlier Marlin 795 thread, someone recommended some UTG bipods, along with links to find them on line. Can anyone recall that recommendation, and can you point me to the original link. My memory has failed me.
Thanks.Comment

I ordered a Boyd's Hunter pepper stock for my 795 and a royal (purple) one for the Mrs's 795. Picks to come once they get installed. The Royal is a "custom" color so it'll be a few weeks :S

The first page of this thread.
BTW if you have the newer molded in plastic sling stud then the adapter wont work with it. You will have to install a real metal sling stud.Comment

Well, glad I found this tread. My 795 has been sitting in the entry way closet for a while. (the wife likes that it is available, we live out in the woods) I got the bug to get a new stock when I was looking for one to put on my Rem 700 .308. Next thing you know I bought a scope mount and a new stock for the 795 first, today in fact. On the first page I saw the video where he polished the bolt. so I took mine apart and yes, they are very rough. The back side was to worst. The question I have is how much can you take off to smooth it out? Those pits are ugly! I see that it is not a close fit in the first place and that the bolt is neither flat nor square. Is there a minimum dimension for this guy?
The bolt measures about .743 wide and the breach is about .765
