So I just bought my 795.. My only other gun is a mosquito which I recently bought as well.. Needless to say, I don't have much experience with firearms.

My scope should be in on Wednesday, and I wanted to get some noob questions answered.. Will it come with everything needed to mount it? Do I take stock sights off? Any thing else you want to add that may help?

It's just a cheaper Baraks $50 off amazon.. Something to start off with..

hey matt79d, if you read the first post it should cover what you need, but since you're new, you probably don't know, I'll try to help the best I can.

A scope mounts to the 795 with a) rings and b) mount.
check if the scope comes with rings and the type of mount they use.
then you'll need to order a mount, the first page covers several out there. most people use either:

      or

The first one is both the mount and rings. the second one is just the mount.

      hope that helps!

Some Barska scopes come with rings, some don't. Without knowing exactly what you ordered, can't say. There are 2 types of ring bases, weaver/picatinny style, and dovetail. The Marlin has a dovetail, so if your scope has dovetail rings, just screw them on and you're set. Use loctite, and there's no need to remove the stock sights.

If your rings have the wider weaver base, then you'll need a rail adaptor like the 2nd link in 916Bobby's post.

If you have only the scope and no rings at all, then I suggest you still get the weaver adaptor and weaver style rings. Most likely your scope is a 1' dia. tube. I have that setup because the adaptor has much more surface area to grip onto. The user pics on the Amazon listing give a good idea of how it's mounted, although I mounted mine with the overhang towards the back because I needed the scope further back. Experiment with the location to see which works best for you.

Pricing seems fine. These magazines typically are very hard to come by. Best case is CDNN, $13.99 when in stock.

That price $20.99 is price gouging. I think i paid $12-13 prior to November at Turners. If a person already has some mags then dont panic buy because it just feeds the monster. Ruger mags have doubled and tripled.

Interesting isnt it. Any products other than gun stuff the public would be raising cain with the FTC for price gouging, there would be lawsuits but for guns they dont complain.

Plus try calling around all the Big 5's around your area to check for stock.
If they are out, ask when they get more and keep checking.

When they have them they are usually around 16.00 or 17.00. Beats paying for shipping.

+1 for this. I've found several at my local big 5 in the past.

                                Question!

Just bought a BARSKA plinker scope.. Decent for the price, magnification is OK at 50 yards.. havent tried 100, but Im sure it wont be great.

I hear a lot of people talking about the tech sights, but with no magnification, I feel like a scope is the way to go. Or am I wrong?

for shooting at 100 yards, would it be better to upgrade to a $100 scope with better magnification? or save some $ and go with the tech sights?

                                Thanks
