I just picked up my M&P 22 to go along with my 9, can't wait to fire it within the next few days. One thing I would like to do is black out the markings on the slide. I was planning on following the same steps others have taken when it comes to coloring markings however the markings on this don't seem to be etched in, they seem painted. Has anyone colored their etchings, and if so what method did you use?

Picking up my M&P .22 on Friday and have been looking for night sights. Is it difficult to replace they stock sights myself or should I have them done from my local gunsmith?

GomezFamilyMan, I had my local gunsmith do the job. for $45 bucks he installed and zeroed the sights. Which was a good thing since I can't shoot for Sh*t apparently. Good to know its me and not the gun or the way I may or may not have sighted it. It is my first gun so maybe your a better shot then I am. Also CCI Mini Mags 100% not a single FTF or FTE. It didn't like Remington Gold or Federal Champion. Everything else was fine.

echopapa, I gave up looking... Its approximately a 2 month backorder from S&W, may be best to get inline now then search for a month like I did before getting in line. Just a thought.

Thanks for the info! Yeah I try to only run the CCI Mini Mags too. I know the M&P .22 has an aluminum slide so I didn't want to screw it up trying to get the new sights in! How do you like the Pachmayr grip you added?

GomezFamilyMan, I like the Pachmayr grips, Its a little annoying that they move slightly but makes it feel really comfy in the hand. So give and take. I got it really cheap on Amazon so can't complain its not a bad buy. I hear a lil silicone will make it stay but I like to remove it when I clean the gun and don't want to hassle with reapplying silicone every time. So if you are not as lazy as me this could be awesome. These are technically made for the 9mm / 40 so it might be a that it fits slightly bigger on the .22LR...

AmmoCanMagnets, I called to see what is happening with mine. They told me they were just getting to the back orders from Mid-December and that was about a week ago. You might be getting yours soon. Maybe you can call and find out.

I almost, ALMOST bought one yesterday. BUT they didn't have anything but the floor model to see on house and no one could get over to the storage or wherever to pick one up. I was 90 miles from home, so it was a no go to drive back today and then again in 10 for p/u. I was very impressed at the larger size frame. It really is almost the same as the "big brothers" My heart is still set on the M&P shield in .40 caliber though.(as a carry/self protection gun) I'd like to get a chance to fire one of these though out of curiosity. It appeals to me because it's still affordable to put a few hundred rounds through at any time instead of costing an arm and a leg!

I am so weak. Yesterday, I went to my local gun shop to start a transfer DROS on an out of state rifle I just bought, and saw one of these little bad boys sitting in the almost empty display case along with some obscure revolvers. I've been thinking about getting a 22 semi for a while and was leaning towards the Ruger SR22. But I pulled the trigger on this and put it in jail. This morning, I just got off the phone with S&W to place an order for 3 more mags. Maybe I'll receive them this year, LOL.

I was able to go to a rental gun range and shoot 100 rounds of mini mags with each of the M&P 22, SR22 and the GSG 1911 22, out of the three I shot . I liked the GSG 1911the best, the weight and size of the gun just felt right. I am glad I had a chance to shoot all three that I had been debating about. I had a mind set before I shot them that I wanted to buy the M&P 22 but I have changed my mind and will buying the GSG 1911 22.

Never got a chance to post pictures of mine, so here they are. Got this M&P 22 back in October of 2012; waited close to two months from the pre-order through Turner's.

P.S. You guys should try CCI Stingers over the Mini Mags and Blazers. They cost a a tad bit more, but you won't regret it.
