Just love my M&P22, I've ran 5 or 6 hundred round threw it so far & it gets better every time I shoot it. I have shot almost every kind of ammo threw & today I shot some cci's velocitor but I'm not sure they were any better than some stuff I picked up from Big 5 called Fiocchi. Anyway I pick up my gsg1911 tomorrow & I'll see how that gun comparer's to my M&P.

I've shot Fiocchi in my M&P 22 and it did well with those, as it's done well with EVERYTHING I've fired in it.
I've been thinking about the GSG 1911 for a couple of months now. Please let us know how your new gun compares with the M&P."If you don't know where you're going, you might not get there." -Yogi BerraComment

Are you "slamming" in the magazine before you rack the slide? Others have had stovepipe feed failures following this action. What happens is that the bullet nose on the top round flips up when the magazine stops abruptly as it's "rammed home". The solution is to insert the magazine less forcefully so as not to dislodge the top round.
Another possibility is that you are racking the slide too slowly and gently, causing a FTF as the round tries to feed into the chamber. Try pulling back on the slide firmly and releasing fully and abruptly as the slide reaches full rear battery, allowing the full force of the recoil spring to close the slide and chamber the round. It also helps to keep the gun clean and the rails well lubed."If you don't know where you're going, you might not get there." -Yogi BerraComment

Nailed it
Yes, that was it! Just tested it several times and noticed that if I slam the magazine the top round's nose moves up quite visibly. If I rack the slide in that position it stovepipes 100%. Hmmm, that's actually not good - MP22 can induce "training scars". An operator is supposed to insert the mags firmly, even slam them, because a) it guarantees successful feeding even on full mags with tight springs and b) that's how you operate under stress. All real combat pistols will handle it just fine.Comment

I have both the GSG 1911 and the M&P22. Overall both are fun to shoot. The GSG is a bit heavier (almost the same weight as a full size 1911). There is almost zero recoil. The M&P22 because it's lighter has a slight recoil. I put about 100 rounds of assorted ammo thru both of them and had zero issues with the GSG and had one stove pipe on the M&P22 but I think on that one I slammed the mag in too hard because the stove pipe was on the first round.
As for what ammo I used I don't recall. I had a ziplock back of misc .22lr ammo that I consolidated from open boxes of different types of ammo ranging from CCI, Federal, American Eagle, PMC and maybe a few others.
Overall I'm happy with both pistols. Both performed well had almost zero issues and I didn't even clean them before taking them to the range. I'm going to put a couple hundred more rounds thru both of them before I take it apart.Ray

If you need mags, you guys might want to call Island View Enterprise out in Ventura and see if they have any. They posted in one of their commercial threads that they had the M&P22 in stock and mags too. I was able to buy three mags from them late last month for $33 each.Ray

Awesome. I just noticed that S&W charged my CC for the magazines I ordered a few weeks ago. Looks like they are catching up with demand."If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns" - Edward AbbeyComment

I'm lucky I got my extra mags a few months back when they were plentiful.
Speaking of mags. You guys ever notice how the the mag is simply blocked to 10 rounds using a removable metal shim around the spring? Don't take it out and reassemble. That'll be illegal in case and a few other states.
