It was fun to finally get out and throw some lead down range. Tried the Winchester 9422 with little success. I liked my new sights-Lyman globe front/ Williams rear combo, but need to find the right ammo.

Thanx for keeping the matches going!
    Cheers!
Great to see you back shooting, hope you can keep at it.

Shot the 25yd and 50yd Iron targets today. There must have been some kind of shooting magic in the air today or maybe the Kimber 82G just reached its break in point. Best shooting I have had to date. It sure was fun.

        25yd Iron Target, Score 131

        50yd Iron Target, Score 127.

Our second 70+ degree day and with the snow finally gone, I made it out to the range with the Savage TR/Millett 4x16 combo.

I shot the 50 yard scoped prone (well, I shot three of them prone). Less comfortable but for some reason it seems more consistent (maybe the ground effect on the wind). This was the last of three targets:

At 100 yards I'm not getting the groups I used to, suggesting it's probably time to clean the barrel. When I do a thorough clean, it takes 20-30 rounds for the gun to start grouping like I know it can, so I tend not to clean it (outside of dragging a patch through it).

When I can't get a good 100 yard group, I know it's time to clean and take my lumps for the next 30 rounds. In any case, 56 points. Got lucky with how the groups formed on the bull -- the other two targets were loose and to the right.

Everything shot with the wildly fun (and accurate, and affordable) Savage TR, Millett 4x16 scope, SK Standard+ (same as Wolf Match), cheap Caldwell bipod and bean bag rear rest.

I didn't have time to shoot the pistol targets (I've got Savage Mk III), but I can say there doesn't seem to be much point in buying an iron sites gun given the incredible groups I'm seeing. Scheez.

Well 2 weeks ago I shoot the 100 yard irons and scoped. Didnt do as good as I wanted. I felt a little off that day. Well it was because a few hours later I was in the emergancy room after I threw up blood and lost 3 pints of blood.
100 yard scoped I shot 48-51-55. The groups are OK but could be better and will once I get my CZ 455 PT. This was shot with a 452/Super Sniper 10X

Next up was 100 yard iorns shot with my Kimber. Again this was my best group and my first group. The rest went down hill after this. Just couldnt get it to my liking. Shot 47 with 2 touching for a total of 49

Last week after I got out of the hospital I shot the pistol targets with my Kimber 1911 rimfire target and shot 91 standing at 15 yard.

Personally I think 25 irons is just too far and would change it to 7 yard irons, 15 yard irons/reddots, and 25 yard 1 to 4x scoped but I do really like the option to shoot pistols even though I need more time to get better.

PS got a S&W 617 last week but it was a little off as was I. Looked and the barrel is canted about 1mm or less to the left and I need some more time behind the gun before I see if that is causing the problem with my grouping.

I couldn't get my rifle to work either. I sold my scope and purchased a new one but they just have not started shipping the new ones yet. Hopefully this month I will get it.

I will be posting new targets tonight for the May Match. I want to send a HUGE thanks to Izzy for stepping up the last 3 months and running the match to give me a break. It looks like he may have a little something special for us in store. Stay tuned.

Look at the bright side; a bad day on the range is really just an excuse to buy a better gun and more expensive ammo.

                    Rules:
This is an online match. Print off the targets, shoot where and when you want. Come back and post your targets for those in your face bragging rights!! I do encourage meeting up with other match shooters. Any rimfire firearm is eligible. Shooting from a benchrest, prone, sitting, standing, hood of your car, leaning against a tree is acceptable. Using a rest in which the Rifle/Pistol can be locked down is verboten.

                    Bonus Points

Here is how it will work. This is only on targets that have multiple shots on one target. We shoot the targets as normal and add up the scores like normal. The twist is we shoot for groups as well. For example, if we are shooting 5 shots on each target. If none of the 5 bullet holes are touching you get no bonus points. If two are touching you get 2 bonus points. If three are touching you get 3 bonus points on up to 5 bonus points for each target.

Finally for any questions just drop me a PM and I'll get right back to you. Feel free to also PM me with feedback/complaints/errors I make, etc... These matches are based on “Gentlemen's/Ladie's Honor” so go shoot and have fun.

You are the only one that shot pistol last month. I'm sure you want to continue the easy wins but we will need some more participation if I"m to post more targets.

Please let me know if others would like me to post Pistol targets and I will reconsider.

I couldn't in April but hopefully this month I'll be participating with some new hardware.

I'll do the 15 yards pistols (if posted), 25yard irons, 50 yard irons and 50 yard scoped...

My son and I are in for pistols this month. I just picked up a new Buckmark and was hoping to use it for this month's match.

We have an indoor range close by that is pretty easy to get to.

Wish I could get to an outdoor range for the rifle part more often...
