OK. I want to try something new this month with the scoring. I like to keep the amount of shots to a minimum as to not waste ammo but still be able to have a good range in the over all scores. We will do this only on the 50yd Irons/scoped targets. Here is how it will work. We shoot the targets as normal and add up the scores like normal. The twist is we shoot for groups as well. In this case we are shooting 3 shots on each target. if none of the 3 bullet holes are touching you get no bonus points. If two are touching you get 2 bonus points. If all three are touching you get 5 bonus points for a potential 15 bonus points at the end. Please give me your thoughts on this as well

I like the idea of the bonus points for groups, adds a little spice to the competition. Great idea IMHO. Gonna try to shoot this month if the shoulder will co-operate.

I just paid off the balance on my first 17 HMR, does this caliber qualify ? It is a rim fire after all.

Maybe a 6 o'clock hold point of aim would help if I'm reading your post correctly. Just a thought.
Of course you would need to re-zero and that can be a pain.

I use a 6:00 hold ... but at 50 yds, those targets make a 6:00 hold and a center bull hold pretty much the same thing to my spectacled old eyes!

Thanks!! I have to give credit to USMCHET. I see so many times that we will have a perfect group but just a bit left/right. I think it is worth recognizing with a little bonus.

It happens wherever you want it to. You print off your targets. You go shoot wherever you shoot. Come back and post your results.

If you are in the LA area. A couple of us go and shoot at ASR. Anyone is more than welcome to join when we go.

Well when I get it, I am gonna run out to a buddies place. He's gonna hook me up with a scope. Then will test it out on the local squirrel population. Should be a lot of fun.

I like the bonus points idea!! Our local archery club has a steel deer silhouette with a cut out for the vitals that we use for our twice yearly tournaments. Good for double points. At $6-$15 per arrow, it can be costly if you miss! But it adds a whole 'nother dimension to the fun. And the "CLANG" when someone misses can be heard over the whole range.

So I went to the range today with all intentions of shooting the 50 and 100 yd scoped. I got there a little later than normal and the 50 yard was jam packed. Having people spotting from empty target spots doesn't help either. I shot the 100 first thinking I might be able to slip over to 50 later. First string of 100 yds was RWS Rifle Match for a 49, 52 and 55. Second string at 100 was SK standard plus for a 54, a 56 that could be a 58, and a for sure 58. I'll have to get to the range earlier next time to shoot the 50 scoped.

Well its been a while since I last shot because of a new job, summer relatives, and my sons scouting events but God smiled upon me today and I was able to spend a few quiet hours with my rimfires at ASR today and this is how I did.
First off is 25 yards. The rifle I used is my trusty Kimber 82 shot with a mix of SK standard+ and Wolf match. My best scores were 54, 51, and 47.

Yes thats 5 shots basically in one hole so add 5points to that and I would have a 59 score

Next up is 50 yard Irons again with my Kimber and Wolf Match ammo with a high score of 89, 87, and 80 (I added the points for touching hopefully correctly)

Next up is 50 scoped. I used my CZ452 with a SS scope and shot with Wolf Match. My groups were not as good as I did with Irons but then again my CZ is not a match rifle by any strech but it will do for now. My scores were 83, 82, and 80 with the touching shots factored in.

As I said my Kimber with Irons shot better but its twice the rifle the CZ is and much heavier and wasn't on a nice rest either. Id love to get another rusty and scope it but Ill have to think about it as I have other guns on my want list. Well next week I shot 100 with SnS and see how my guns do. Hopefully it wont be too windy.

Hit the range today for the 50 yard scoped. Sunny, no wind, pleasant temperature. Shot three targets each of SK standard plus, and RWS rifle match, and two targets of RWS R50, with a correction group to set up the next ammo type. I scored 93, 84, and 80 with the SK. With the RWS rifle match I scored 91, 83, and 83. Finally because I didn't think to print more targets, I got a 90 and an 81 with the RWS R50. Shot with a Savage MkII BV w/ Nikon scope.
