Went out to my range to give the GSG a try. Brought a 325 pack of Federal Match, 525 federal bulk and 300 CCIs.

I had FTF with the Federal bulks, not one single issue on the CCIs or the Federal Match. Total roiunds fired:

    150 Federal Bulk
    325 Federal Match
    300 CCIs

I would not have any issues continuing to feed this pistol federal bulks for plinking. HAd an occasional flyer, but still plenty accurate and fun.

On my first few loads I found the pistol was shooting low and to the right. I changed the front sight to the #2 sight and then it was shooting high right. I adjested the rear sight to pull my onto center and started using 6 O' clock hold and was pretty much on target' a little low; but I will have to adjust for this I guess.

Overall I am very happy with the GSG1911! Seems to be very reliable and is a lot of fun to shoot. I am not so happy with the front sights though. There is to much of a jump between the #3 and #2 sight, I need something just in between those two.

I wonder if the standard 1911 sights fit the GSG1911? I am going to have to do something and I do not really want to file the front #3 sight down.

Now after approx 2800 rounds through my GSG, I've noticed that CCI Blazer shoots perfectly through the gun, but it's also the dirtiest. I have a lot more crap to clear out of the barrel after shooting a few hundred rounds of of the CCI Blazer.

For the price, I prefer shooting Federal value pack RED box as that runs flawless through my gun and it runs pretty clean (as clean as CCI Mini Mags). I wonder if it's just the lead nose bullets that make the barrel so dirty, or the waxy cover on top of the bullets.

Your's, mine, and many other people's GSG does this. But I only notice it high right when I'm shooting past 15 yards.

Yes, adjusting your sights is the first thing to do. But the other thing to do, that most people haven't done yet, is to get a better & tighter barrel bushing. Not another one from ATI, but an aftermarket one and fit it to the gun (if it needs fitting). I'm running an EGW prefit match barrel bushing on my GSG, and it's a tight fit and I had to do some filing to make it fit the slide properly, but now my groupings are very tight at 20 yards and dead center.

Sweet! They are a ton of fun. I need to get more Mags for mine.

I notice the CCI runs dirty in my 10/22 (don't have enough rounds through the GSG to tell, but can imagine it is dirty.)

I will check out the barrel bushing option.

What about the tigger pull? Anyone done a tigger job on theirs? Mine seems really heavy (or tight).

GSG5Rifle has them for $30 each. I searched for a while and that was the best price I could find for original GSG mags.

Like most handguns, a good trigger job helps this pistol a whole lot. However, I would not recommend doing a trigger job on this one, unless you are real familiar with working on the 1911. If you are familiar with the 1911 parts (80 Series), then this handgun is almost exactly the same.

I removed the 80 series parts, and converted mine to work just like the 70 series 1911, and the trigger is now a very crisp 3 pounds. This trigger job is as easy to do as any 1911 in .45ACP. The article on my website covers some good upgrades for this handgun. I also removed the "extra parts" on the mainspring housing, and replaced the front bushing with a steel part.

This GSG 1911 is now one of my favorite handguns.

Even though I was going to get a great deal @ Turners for $299. I cancelled the order. Read to many things that made me pass. Also factor in Turners said the wait period for 2nd batch was going to be 4wks. That's after I waited this long. That's a two month wait! They gladly refunded my money after making me wait for 30min.

Do you have a link on the specific EGW prefit match barrel bushing you bought?

                      nazs ......

There's no need to purchase a barrel bushing. Read this article on my website. You can get the importer to send you a new steel bushing for free.

This article shows a top quality, German made Model 1911 in .22 rimfire. This article also shows how to improve its reliability, and make it into a spectacular handgun.

They have a new steel replacement part that you should use. Every part on the slide is lightened to the extreme. Even the sights are made of Delron to cut the weight. That's very important when it comes to making ANY 1911 reliable when using .22 rimfire ammo.

Just picked mine up yesterday. I like the wood grips, but it looks like unfinished wood. What can I do to protect the wood, use oil, lacquer, shellac?

The GSG-1911 that is currently available is not legal in CA due to it having a threaded barrel, which makes it an assault weapon under CA laws.

                          I believe Turner's was taking pre-orders for the GSG-1911CA for around $350.
It is now available. I was very close to putting $$ on one TODAY. Felt nice in the hand.

I bought one last Friday at Turners. FYI, mags are $26 at Prairie Arms:

Pistols and rifles and shotguns, oh my!
