Which 22LR Sidearm Did You Choose And Why?

Conversion kits are alright, BUT... they can be finicky with ammo and IMHO, they are not as accurate as dedicated pistols.

I use a Kimber conversion for 1911 practice, an Advantage Arms for Glock practice. The Kimber, mounted on a RIA Tactical frame, is far more accurate than my Ruger Mk I (which isn't that surprising since I've had the Mk I for over 30 years). The AA kit is as accurate as the Glock in stock form - which is all it has to be, and also more accurate than the Ruger. Neither is any more ammo finicky than the Ruger, or any other .22LR pistol I've owned (with the exception of revolvers). Both are more accurate than my Walther P22. The Ruger sits in the back of the safe along with the P22 these days, in favor of the two conversion kits.

When it's all said and done, though, I regret selling my S&W K22. It was the most accurate and fun .22 pistol I've ever owned.

I now carry while hunting a 1930's H&R sportsman breaktop revolver that I picked up a few years back. this replaced my ruger Mark II 5 1/4 bull barrel that I occasionally carry. Also have a beautiful Browning buckmark field w/ 5.5 bull barrel, a rossi 4" revolver and a old ruger gen1 single six that I occasionally take out. I like revolvers, just something about being able to pull back the hammer rather than flipping off the safety and really don't like leaving shells laying around littering the wilderness.

If your conversion kits worked for you, then you must have gotten a good batch. Otherwise, I have not been exactly lucky with conversion kits and I did get issues when using ammo not listed nor recommended by the kit maker.
I fed all ammos to my Ruger MkII, SW 617 and Ruger SP101 .22LR and the three of them, especially the SP101, have not missed a beat on ammo and I admit that accuracywise, my MkII and 617 were better than the conversion kits I had.

I got a S&W 22A and like it - since it has not been mentioned I am thinking of picking up a
Bersa Thunder 22 - It is a 22 version of the Thunder 380 (which I got and like) and essentially they are both clones of the Walther PPK.

Bersa is known for doing lower cost but pretty good quality look-alikes.

I like this one for all the right reasons- Never, ever Jams, Doesn't shed DNA, 5 inch sight radius, eight rounds (60 grain super sniper subsonic) Hi VIz Sight and doesn't weigh anything!! Hits like a 45 with the SSS's.

That one with nickel finish sure is pretty.... it'd make for the perfect little sister to my Mk III stainless!

Browning Buckmark Camper. When I was looking at .22 handguns the thing that I liked about the Buckmark over the Ruger was the fact that I could get a different barrel for it without having to DROS it. It is also a little easier to take down for cleaning.

Regardless of what .22 pistol you carry, as long as they are reliable, they are all fun to shoot. There are some days when I go to the range and all I take with are my 22's.

Anytime I take someone out to shoot with me they always love shooting the 22's more than anything because they still go bang but are not as intimidating as the centerfire calibers, at least to a noobie.

S&W model 17 6in. - nice target revolver
Ruger SP101 22LR - trail gun and fun plinker
Beretta 87 BB cheetah - just plain fun to shoot

Advantage Arms Glock Conversion. I had a Glock 17, and in the spirit of keeping my practice cheap and effective, figured it would be great if I could fling .22lr from my main sidearm. Only had it out once, it runs alright, jammy, but that was expected. I just need to break the thing in. Pretty fun to play with though.

I still have my Mark I bull barrell with the standard length and right out of the box it was as nice as I would ever want. It is 30 years old and still kicking out the rounds. Might be better ones on the market but not for me.

A stainless Ruger 22/45 Mark II with a 5.5" bull barrel. It was my first gun, just picked it because it felt best in my hand. By pure luck, it turned out it was the one everyone covets.
