Which 22LR Sidearm Did You Choose And Why?

I don't take down the Ruger it is a pain to do and I find it is not needed usually.

Ruger Mark II (not Mark III) if you can find one. I mention Mark II because while it's still a PITA to reassemble, it is not the bigger PITA that the Ruger Mark III is.

I say Ruger because that's what I've shot all my life so I don't know much about its competitors Browning Buckmark and S&W 41.

Conversion kits are alright, BUT... they can be finicky with ammo and IMHO, they are not as accurate as dedicated pistols.

I have a Ruger MKIII 6-7/8" "competition" model with rosewood grips and a thumb rest in stainless steel. It is a beautiful handgun with a long sight radius. It is VERY accurate and has eaten everything from Mini-mags to subsonic Aguila 650fps ammo. I get an occasional failure to fire due to ammo but I don't believe it to be the gun at all. My next .22lr pistol will be the 4" or 5" S&W 22A with the fluted barrel from budsgunshop.com. Something like this: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/18172

First one was a Walther P22 Target pistol.....IMO the worst shooting handgun I have ever shot......the trigger is HORRIBLE. I bought it 7-8 years ago, shot it a few times, received a letter about a recall or something making it non-compliant. I sent it back, they turned around fixed it and sent it back the next week....it's still in the brown cardboard box it came back in....and like I said that was 7-8 years ago.

Second and last .22 pistol (I have also owned this pistol for several years) is a Browning Buck Mark sporting a sweet Leupold scope. Not sure what model without looking at it. It's not only a beautiful gun, but it is one of the best shooting handguns I have ever fired. It is a great plinking and small game hunting pistol that I would recomend to anybody.

I just got a P22 and I must say I am pleased with it. 7 or 8 years ago is when they had more problems... right after they came out. They seem to have fixed all of them by now

Ruger 22/45 in the barrel length that makes you happy.
Price is just too right when turners has them on blowout.

I have a Ruger 22/45 and two Single Sixes (5 1/2" blue & stainless). So far the 22/45 eats anything and is a great shooter. I prefer the thinner grip on the blue SS which works out because my son prefers the thicker grip on the stainless. All of them are a hoot to shoot and the 22/45 frequently goes on sale at Turners.

chalk one more ruger mk iii target here... mine is a 5.5" bull barrel target model... in stainless because i think it's prettier.

i ditched the factory plastic grips and put in a hogue rubberized grip... love it!

don't let people scare you off regarding disassembly/reassembly... i did it with zero problems the first time right after picking up the gun. just follow the manual and/or watch the youtube video from ruger.

They all have there uses but I must say I am partial to my Kimber the most
it is super accurate and dependable and well its a 1911 ;-)

My dad swears by his ancient Ruger 10" BB and it is a smooth pistol no doubt but I still outshoot him with my Beretta Neos. Maybe it's more to do with eye sight though...

True.

I have not tried that one.

I only tried JA Ciener and Advantage Arms.

They plinked fine (on recommended ammo), but their accuracy were not the best. So, I prefer to stick to dedicated rifles and in the case of rimfire ARs (dedicated rifles or uppers).
