First one was a Walther P22 Target pistol.....IMO the worst shooting handgun I have ever shot......the trigger is HORRIBLE. I bought it 7-8 years ago, shot it a few times, received a letter about a recall or something making it non-compliant. I sent it back, they turned around fixed it and sent it back the next week....it's still in the brown cardboard box it came back in....and like I said that was 7-8 years ago.

Second and last .22 pistol (I have also owned this pistol for several years) is a Browning Buck Mark sporting a sweet Leupold scope. Not sure what model without looking at it. It's not only a beautiful gun, but it is one of the best shooting handguns I have ever fired. It is a great plinking and small game hunting pistol that I would recomend to anybody.

ruger 22/45 and S&W 22A...both are highly reliable, accurate, available anywhere, reasonably priced with many accessories readily available.

Ruger MKIII Bull Barrel in stainless steel.
- Stainless for easy cleasing.
- Bull barrel for accuracy
- Don't like the plastic lower of the 22/45 (even though it's cheaper).
- Prefer the Luger like grip angle of the MKIII over a Browning Buckmark (although the Buckmark has a much more easily replacable barrel.

Ruger MKIII 5.5 bull barrel. Have always liked the MK series and they feel perfect in my hand. Very happy with how accurate it is and have had zero problems with it. The only thing that I have changed was that I added an extended bolt release for my glommy fingers.

Ruger 22/45 with a PacLite 4.5" threaded upper. Accurate, lite weight, reliable, and accepts a suppressor.

my first was a s&w 22a bull barrel that my grandfather gave me.
then last year a picked up a ruger mkIII standard barrel used from a friend for a good deal.
i like both but prefer shooting the ruger.

Ruger Mark III Competition Target, accurate, very reliable, less than $600 out the door, need I say more. These groups are mostly standing at 15 Yards with cheapy ammo.

Ruger 22/45. In fact it is my favorite pistol . It shoots great, feels great in my hand and is fun to shoot. The next favorite is a targer Ruger MK series 22

Older Smith 41 if you've got the cash - no finer American 22 pistol. They're a dream to shoot and accurate as hell. I'll never sell mine.

If you don't want to spend that kind of money, the Rugers can't be beat. They're more accurate than most shooters and reasonably priced. I shot a Government Competition for years before I got my 41. The new Mark III Hunter looks like a great pistol.

Don't forget the Browning Challenger and Buckmark. You can find Challengers for around $300. I own all that I've referenced but if I had to pick between the Ruger, Challenger & Buckmark, I'd take the Ruger. Only negative (slight) is take down and reassembly but once you do it a few times it's no big deal.

PS - If you happen upon an old High Standard at a reasonable price, snap it up.
