Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.
People Should Not Be Afraid Of Their Governments, Governments Should Be Afraid Of Their People

Henry mini bolt, using stock bolt as a take down screw in Marlin Papoose case. Snake Charmer in 410 as well...that's the Jeep two gun permanent combo...survival guns to me mean different things as well...TURNING and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

my 10/22 as that is my only .22lr gun.
but even if it wasn't, it has been reliable shooting variety of ammo, and easy to clean/low maintenance.Originally posted by leelawOriginally posted by SoCalSig1911Originally posted by PrepperGunShopComment

Let's put in a qualifier or two: My AR-7 is an AR-7 industries model, which is generally considered the best quality (main difference is barrel - all steel instead of aluminum or composite with a steel sleeve). It came to me with the chamber beveled and polished, and appears to have had some trigger work. The most common problem with any AR-7 is grabbing the magazine. They won't cycle right if the mag isn't freely dangling. Some reported barrel warping with the Charter Arms makes.
The U22 runs like a champ if slightly picky about ammo. It doesn't like the waxy muck on fiocchi rounds (sometimes bolt will close before the next round makes its slow journey up the magazine), and shorter rounds tend to jam. Even with "incompatible" ammo it still goes bang every time. What problems did you see with the range gun?
Let me know when you'd like to try out my samples, you're only an hour or so away. Bring your samples too!

Semi-auto .22LR rifles can be sometimes finicky when it comes to ammo. If I had to choose it would be a single-shot or bolt-action from this list:
CZ-452 Lux
Marlin 981TS
Marlin Golden 39A
Remington 572 BDL
Springfield Armory M6 Scout
Savage Model 24
Now the only reason I made an exception for the CZ was due to the accuracy of the rifle and the excellent iron sights it comes with. While it is magazine fed it can be fed single-shot should the magazine fail for any reason."People who object to weapons aren't abolishing violence, they're begging for rule by brute force, when the biggest, strongest animals among men were always automatically 'right'. Guns ended that, and social democracy is a hollow farce without an armed populace to make it work." Clarissa in The Probability Broach by L. Neil Smith.Comment

my survival rim fire is a 22lr over a 20 gauge.
with some slugs or good buck shot, its handy to take a squirrel to a deer. in a over under configuration very reliable, and with the 20 gauge very handy. These are very popular over the pond not much in the USComment

I think a take down 10/22 will do the job. If you take an allen wrench along and loosen the V-Block than you have two separate pieces. Cheap, reliable and functional.Comment

Well if I can just have one gun it'll be my 10/22. It's jammed once... I think... in over twelve years. But if I'm carrying something heavier for large game it'd be a tricked out MKIII target for backup and small game.Time spent hunting is not deducted from one's lifespan.Comment
