I would take the Henry Survival .22LR and the Marlin Papoose. Since both are in my safe, and they are small, I think having both would be good planning.

I have a M6 and an AR7. That said, in a survival situation, I would opt for one of my Winchester '06s. They can easily be taken down and stored. They are reliable. They are more accurate and shoot more precisely than either of the so called "survivial rifles" I have and, I just love gallery guns.

id take my marlin 39a. a takedown in its own right, as long as you have a coin, and it has proven lethal on more than one pesky critter in my side yard... and its a simple design, with the lever action taking out a lot of the possibility of failure. and it doesnt stovepipe subsonics.

I see someone said ar-7 gimmicky. I totally disagree. I have had one for 20 years or so. Shoots good, accurate, and takes up very little room. Definately one of my survival bag items.

A S&W Model 617 with a 4" bbl in a good holster would be my preferred choice for a survival rimfire. In the situation described, I would want a rimfire that is totally reliable and capable of feeding any .22 ammo. I believe the Model 617 fits that description whereas some semi-autos may not. I also like the portability of a handgun vs. a rifle in same scenario. Stainless steel is a plus too.

For a pistol, I agree it's got to be the S&W 617. For a rifle, I'm gonna go with a Henry .22 S/L/LR lever action rifle. You can use .22 short, long, and long rifle carttridges. Since it's a lever action, you don't have to worry about cycling problems.
