    Scope for around $50

I know most of you will say that any scope for around 50 bucks is crap. However, I don't want an excellent scope. This will be going on my Marlin 795. I want a scope that is good for about 50 yards, and only all right for around 75-100 yards. Just good enough for about a 2 inch or so grouping at 50 yards, and so I can hit a rabbit sized target at 75-100 yards. I have been looking at lower end Bushnells. Such as:

Also, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the difference between 4x32 and 3-9x32. Does 3-9 mean it has adjustable magnification from 3x through 9x? And I can select the magnification

3-9x does mean you can adjust the magnification. A decent scope for the price is a Simmons .22mag scope. Glass is some what clear, turret adjustment is nice and it's around your price range new. If you plan on shooting just 50 yards, you'll prob be ok with just the 4x, but if you want to shoot out further distances, you may want to try a scope that has an adjustable magnification settings.

All right, thanks. I would probably go with the adjustable so i can shoot at longer distances as well as 50yrds. So you think the simmons would be better than a bushnell?

the bushnell 3-9 rimfire is pretty good. I have one on my Marlin 795 and it works great!

I picked it up at Big 5 for $49

They are both decent scopes for the price. Keep an eye out in the firearmsparts for sale section too. Some of the fellow members have nice scopes for good prices.

centerpoint from walmart is good too. has the mildot reticles and the illuminations, but the illuminations are just for "wow" factor...I've never used it before for any type of situation...in low light, the light flat out blinds you from seeing your target.

You got to be careful to select a .22 scope. The reason is that high power rifle scope are parallaxes adjusted to approx over 50 yards. So you need to select a scope with adjustable objective to correct the parallaxes. Here is scope with all that but $4.00 over the $50.00 you want to pay.

What is the second part of the number represents? Is it the diameter of the lens on the scope ?

Yeah. From what i read, the bigger the diameter of the lense, the more light it picks up. Allowing for a better sighting in not the most ideal lighting conditions.

The second number represents the maximum magnification, so a 3-9x40 means it can magnify from 3x-9x more than the human eye can see and the third number (the 40, in this case) is the diameter of the objective lens in millimeters.

I bought a Bushnell 3-9x32 rimfire scope for my Ruger 10/22. I would say that it is pretty acurate up to 100 yards.. I like it, looks nice, works well, and I bought it on amazon for $37 and some change... If you're not in a hurry to get it, it might even have 'free super saver shipping'

I use this one on my Marlin 925, strong clear scope and good price too.

I use a tasco 3-9x40 on my ruger 10/22 and it groups just fine even at 100 yards. I purchased it from walmart for $30
