    Wheres the ultimate 22lr round???!!

    I have done my research on this and it seems I find so many different opinions on the subject. I'm looking for the best 22lr on the market in terms of stopping power, and accuracy. Basically the most effective round I would want to have if I was faced in a self defense situation. Any input is appreciated.

    Get a bigger caliber. Seriously...

    While a .22 CAN stop somebody, it will not be as effective.

      CCI Stinger or Aguila Super Maximum HPs

      The courage to change the things I can;
      And the wisdom to know the difference.

        CCI Stingers, and CCI Velocitors. Velocitors are the only .22lr rounds I have seen for hunting medium sized game i.e. coyotes etc. I've shot phone books with velocitors and they actually open up to about a dime sized piece. Obviously this isn't the same as flesh, but it's an interesting fact in either case. The CCI Stingers that I shot at the phone book went right through and I couldn't find the actual bullet, so I don't think the hollow point opened up. Both of these also have the most felt recoil(albeit still very little) and the loudest signature out of the muzzle of any .22lr I've shot

            aguila 60gr sniper subsonic. when you absolutely, positively gotta kill every ground squirrel in the room, accept no substitutes.

            (disclaimer: i actually have no idea how they would fare against a live human aggressor, all i know is they put some HUUUURT on squirrels and rabbits.)

              +1 They shoot great in my mini revolvers, and are one hole accurate at 50 yards in my Spikes upper. But if your going to use a .22 for defense, practice head shots...They kill hundreds of people every year and better than a stick, but the .22 is not a good round to trust your life on.

                  For SD your going to want a round with high momentum to make sure you get penetration. I would say the Aguila Sniper Subsonic, or the 40 grain round nose round made by Aguila that is fast as hell, ah, the Interceptor.
