The painted barrels, recievers and polymer trigger groups started showing up in early 2008. The new ones have a krinkle paint finish that seems to be holding up well. The polymer group, at least on the 2 I have, is surprisingly well made. I haven't done anything to them yet and even though they are the typical heavy pull weight they are consistent. One of them I shoot alot!
I did strip the paint from one rcvr and the metal finish is bad, hence the heavy krinkle paint finish! Pretty typical to get the paint wearing off any of the 10/22s on the inside of the rcvr. Just clean it and keep shooting. The really old 10/22s are anodized so you dont see the paint problems there. I much prefer my old 10/22s just because I'm old but the new ones are not bad either.
