Sports Authority puts them on sale every couple of months like Big 5, sometimes for $20 less.

What is power coated. If you are referring to the stuff Ruger used as a finish on there 10/22, THAT AINT POWDER COATING!!. As for the rest of that in your post.................. what the hell is that all about?

Turners has them on sale for $219, I got mine out the door for $265ish and the manager gave me 500 rounds of .22 ammo because they were busy and it took a while for them to get to me.

You're yanking our chains.....right? Is it the plastic TG and barrel band, along with the painted barrels and birch and plastic stocks that make them more desirable? The way that the paint flakes off on the barrels and inside and outside on the receivers that makes them better? It's really not even fair to compare the new ones to the older models IMO. Walnut carbine stocks, walnut deluxe checked stocks, walnut international stocks, walnut fingergroove stocks, walnut fingergroove checkerd stocks, anodized receivers metal TG's, metal butt plates, and pre-warning barrels that shoot lights out. Also what about some of the incredible figure in the wood on some of the older stocks? I have four or five of these that I've mentioned and I don't consider myself an expert on them. I do however know when to raise the BS flag and put my hip boots on.

Interesting, my wife got me one last Xmas from bass pro. Its their special edition w/digital camo finish. Receiver isn't painted and no paint or flaking or any internal except near the plunger that moves when you pull the may release. Never a hiccup using the factory mags in a few k rounds of bulk packs.

                      WTB used AK MFER.

You say that the receiver is not painted.... I thought that the whole damn thing would get lost in a set of ACU's. That is the model that they paint everything, Right?
