If you're trying to decide whether to buy one or not, I'd say do it. It's pricey for sure, but you're really getting a quality product. Again, we were hitting 4" swingers at 100 yds. w/ red dots (Rich was using an Aimpoint, I was using a Clonepoint) and Federal bulk ammo. These things are plenty accurate. If we went w/ magnified optics, our game of HORSE would resemble the Jordan-Bird commercials.

Supposing I go TacSol and replace the trigger, would the rounded trigger work just as well if I switch back to .223/5.56?

Ok, the original notched hammer was a thing done by Colt to make it harder for people to modify their semi-auto AR's into going fully-auto.

A true M16 hammer has a rounded face, and an AR15 with a rounded hammer is closer to "mil spec" than one with a notched hammer.

The rounded hammer is actually the ideal hammer for all situations, and works better for a 9mm conversion as well.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Any opinions on the velocityfirearms.com uppers? Cheapest I've found, which makes me wary...

If I can hit a soda can at 50 or 60 yards, most of the time, I'll be plenty happy. I don't need a match .22, that's what my sweet li'l honey of a Ruger is for. I just want something I can plunk around with, without it jamming up too much or breaking on me, and something "cool looking" I can let kids and chicks at the range play with.

I looked into these and was seriously going to buy one for a while until I learned more about the company.

Basically, velocity firearms is the same company as hesse/vulcan/blackthorne and is one to stay away from.

If you're on a budget I highly recommend the Model1 Sales dedicated uppers. They are nice and reliable, mil-spec, and use nice aluminum receivers

Would you guys recommend Compass Lake or Spikes with a Lothar Walther barrel upgrade for best accuracy, and reliability?

If you've got the money for Compass Lake, go Compass Lake. Period.

                    But I didn't have $1000 for a .22lr upper, I only had $600, so I went with the TacSol
