Here is a pic of my project with the Malcom Scope mounted with two sided tape..Should be strong enough Huh

Wish my Camera was not a 15 year old peice of crapper..But this gives you an idea.

Mounts are supposed te be on the way..Hope I measured everything OK and they are the right respective heights..

When the mounts get here I will put it in the Mill and drill and tap..

Forgot I did go and shoot it a little with a rear sight..This three shot group at a somewhat short distance I can see without a optic..Maybe 30 to 40 yards..Gives me a little optimism it may shoot decent..

That was a plastic 17 Mach II lid I taped to a larger box..Two are around 1/2 inch apart..Other "flyer" is around 1/2 high and 1/2 right..

Looking better every new photo, and looks good with the scope. Then again, I may be a bit biased about the scope.

1st year 1885 in 32/40, with a 4x Wollensak. Bert was selling a huge collection of 1885's for the widow of a good friend. He had about 8 left after all the 5 figure rifles sold, and this was one of the 8. It was originally a 38/55, but the owner installed the correct year "NOS" .32/40 bbl on the re-blued receiver. Naturally I used that to talk the price down. Bert was tired of dragging them around to the guns shows, and I got for pretty much the price of the receiver. He doesn't let me forget that deal.
Got the scope with the Japan Black already cleaned off. Polished out all the finger prints and mounted it. Found out why the finger prints were there. Every time you shoot it, you have to slide the scope tube backwards in the turrets to reset it from the recoil. It's made that way so you don't knock the crosshairs out of it. Mounted on a .22, you can tighten the slide friction ring where it doesn't move.
Didn't know you were going to scope yours, I have the twin to it that still has all the black on it!

The guy that invented the .17M2 was gunsmith Jack Blake. I was there helping assemble the gun, and loading the rounds. I have the honor of firing the first round. Handed me the gun, one round, and told me to "go shoot that damned crow dropping pecans out of my tree". Crow never new what hit him! I had a lot of fun with that old man, and learned a truckload doing it.
AR, if you have access to a chronograph, I'm real curious what that.17 will do in that long barrel.

I do not own a Crono, but I think a friend does..I will see what I can do..What would you expect a slower FPS or faster? I think maybe slower because all the powder is likely burned up before the bullets exits..I do not know though.

Anyway a slight change, and for the better on my Scope..Same Scope but I was over at my Buddys Gun shop today, and he remembered he got a J Unertyl Micrometer Rear mount in one of the "junk" boxes he bought at a auction we were at a couple years ago..So he gave it to me..

It is missing the little plunger and spring..But I have those ordered from DK Arms..Should be real nice with mount..Better than the cheapo that was on there..I removed the finish from the front one, and polished it to somewhat match the rear one.

Still waiting for the dang bases to arrive yet...maybe tomorrow..

Toro..Be somewhat prepared for sticker shock on these Scopes..I know alot of people, NOT ME, spend 1000s of dollars on Scopes..But at 300.00 this is the most expensive I have ever bought And it was used..

Bases arrived..Barrel drilled and tapped..Hoping to get it out this weekend for some testing, to see how well it shoots with the Scope..I am thinking it is going to do very well if I do my part..

With no recoil, and a 6X scope, you should be able to see the bullet hit the target. BTW...those Shoot-n-See targets make sighting in a .17 much easier.
Slower or faster with the long barrel? That's the question that perks my curiosity!

No Chrono yet. But here is a target I shot today.

These were shot off a small Sand bag off the top of my Corrolla roof//All but the 7 shot group was fired using my right eye and right handed..The last 7 shot group was shot left handed, same rest, the Corrolla

The center 7 shot group fired last measures with my calipers...440..Maybe not that great, but keep in mind that was left handed as my right eye is about 75% useless now..

I think it has potential in the right hands..Ammo was Hornandy..

I have some Eley that I talked about earlier, 450 rounds left..I did shoot a little of that the other day..But do not like it, and am going to put it for trade in Section here and the Rimfire Central Board for Hornandy or CCI... If I get no trade offers I will sell it outright.. Thanks

Well, there was half the problem, on a 1-10 scale, a Corolla only rates a 3 for a bench rest!
I'm with Toro, that's minute of ground squirrel head, and that was just the sight in.

Trap a question for you..I discovered I may be missing a part looking at the diagrams I have found..There is something called a knockoff spring and screw shown in the drawings, well I do not have one..There is a extra hole in the lower tang for a screw to go through, and a slot in the lower tang that looks like it is for a spring..

I found one,will order one if needed....

Dumb question but is it supposed to be there? Or were the springs maybe only used with the double set triggers? I think it is supposed to be there myself..

Toro does your have said spring if you remember the last time you had the stock off?

Any advice appreciated..
