I've built mine with a CMMG upper, and I have nothing but praise for it. It works well with the CMMG and BlackDog mags.

      Plasticky

I would assume those who say the polymer receiver S&W M&P 15-22 is "plasticky" - in order to be consistent - also don't like and would never consider owning a polymer frame Glock, HK, SIG, Walther, FN, CZ, Springfield Armory, S&W, Ruger etc. pistol either. Too "plasticky".

      Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

I have a S&W M&P 15-22, a CMMG upper and an early .22 conversion. I actually like the M&P 15-22 a lot. Accurate, reliable, lightweight and a lot of fun, especially for kids mature enough to handle it safely.

Yep, I am one of those that will not buy a Plastic Handgun either People claim they are so great. But I am guessing they will not hold up like most of the Blued steel ones have for over 100-150 years.

Give me a good old Revolver, 1911, FN Hi Power, Luger and many others any day..

              At least you're consistent.

As my user name suggests and as seen in my avatar picture I really like older wood and steel guns too. The overwhelming majority of firearms I own are made from steel and wood. But I appreciate corrosion-proof and lightweight modern polymer frame firearms too. Lightweight and corrosion proof polymer is definitely an advantage in a carry gun.

When it comes to .22LR rifles recoil is mild so light weight is no disadvantage. In fact, it makes the rifle easier to carry and handle.

I guess I just like firearms whatever they are made of.

It has the combination of a 22" barrel, 17-round magazine, and last shot hold open that was made for only a few years in the mid 1980s. Earlier models lacked the last shot hold open feature, later models have a 14-round magazine, and then a few years later the barrel was shortened to 19" to match the shorter magazine.

They do. The conversion kits absolutely do; however, as noted previously S&W M&P 15-22 mags can also be used with an adapter.

The 10/22, 15-22, and RPRR are the most accurate but I can't remember which is the best of the three. They are pretty close. The 10/22 is the most fun/comfortable to shoot of those three.

The military trainers might have more accuracy potential but the main problem is the sights, or more accurately their lack of scopes combined with my (poor) eyesight. At my age it is much easier to shoot well with a scope compared to iron sights. The Harrington & Richardson M12 is the heaviest (11 lb).

Of the others the Ithaca X5 Lightning is the most accurate and fun to shoot (when it is feeding reliably). It is also the prettiest. It is also the most jam-prone/picky about ammunition brand/type. It might be because of its tube magazine. The Marlin 60 was also somewhat jam-prone until I adjusted the ejector wire on my Marlin 60 per this post https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forum...d.php?t=388240 and it helped a lot.

When I introduce new shooters to shooting I start them out with .22LR handguns. After the handguns I introduce them to rifles first with the CZ 452 Scout, then the RPRR, then the 10/22, then the M&P 15-22. They usually like the 10/22 the most.

Milsurp I kinda like that Ithaca. I like the Model 60s in the same range as you also.

I did buy two Plastic Guns in my life..One is as Ruger SR22 Handgun, other is a Bersa Thunderer in .380. Bought those for the Wife, she likes them. She will not even shoot any of my Rifles at all. But lucky that she shoots at all I guess.

the durability and reliability of polymer lower for a 15-22 is not an issue, as it is a rim-fire cartridge.

Pus the lighter weight make it very kid friendly.

After I saw this http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/...-types-tested/ I have concentrated on CCI Standard Velocity for rifles. It is the most accurate of the widely available non-match not expensive ammo. I would also buy whatever was on sale at my local chain store back when .22LR was available and cheap, and I'm sure glad I did. I have been through enough ammo shortages in the past that when it is in the stores I bought whatever was on sale. When I take new shooters out I use only CCI Standard Velocity in the rifles. For handgun shooting I grab an assortment out of my stash.
