Which .22lr Would You Buy?

Back in the world of affordable rifles...

T/CR22 is a little more expensive than the base 10/22 but worth it.
Remington 597 Bull Barrel can't be beat for the price but needs a scope.
Both will out shoot a stock 10/22.

The 10/22 takedown is really fun because it comes with a little backpack that does not say "Look everyone, I've got a rifle" every time you take it out of the house. There is room in that backpack to add a few handguns as a bugout bag. I've even had the 10/22 w/scope, Ruger PC carbine w/red dot and a couple pistols in the bag together. It was very heavy though.

i suggest other 22 makes other than the ruger 10/22 if you plan on leaving stock open sights. the standard 10/22 sights are difficult to adjust. at least that's been my experience with the 10/22 i have. i went to the tech sights system on mine and it works great even though i still had to drill the peep orifice a little bigger.

A couple years back, I bought a used Marlin 795 for $100 from a coworker.

Took it to an Appleseed and it ran flawlessly, and very accurate.

If I didn’t get that Marlin 795 for the price I paid, I would have bought a 10/22 Takedown.

Remington Nylon 66, 1968, fired at least 100,000 rounds and still NO JAM! 15 round butt-load tubular magazine. Still my fun-gun.
