Picking up another Marlin Model 60 today.

That makes 7 for me.

7? Dang, dude! I have one from back in the mid 80s... I really like the little thing. But 7???

The family broke in some 795s last weekend, and learned to love the platform. We are upgrading the sights, though....

my irons suck, it shoots right. ill need to get a scope still.

Awkwardly enough the front site on mine is installed slightly to the left on the crown of the barrel. I put a bore sighter in it and the sights line up with the laser kind of weird. Ill have to take it to the range and fire some off and find out if this will be an issue.

I had the same problems as you guys. My marlin was shooting to the right. I bough a pair of tech sights and even with the rear sight cranked all the way to the left it still shot to the right. I went back to Bain and Davis and showed them. Turns out the hole that the front sight screws into was not perfectly straight and was actually crooked off axis

They sent it back to marlin and im waiting for it to get back

ok so mt new ATI fiberforce showed up today...

I spent 2 hours trying to get it to fit and nothing.... I milled out the little pocket as stated in the ATI instructions and it still doesn't fit. Those that have gotten it to work, what else needs to be milled/filled down? Could someone take a picture of the finished ATI stock showing all the alterations needed?

I really want this to work. Thanks.

I recently got mine installed and painted also. I didn't take any pictures along the way but...
As for the trigger group, I had to mill out the bottom to match the extended trigger guard where it goes around the magazine. I milled it to the same depth as what was already there. I had to open up hole in the stock where it was indicated the magazine would fit. I also had to do Dremel out the back corners. (close to the pistol grip)
For the receiver side of things, I had to Dremel out one little notch on one side (left?) into one of the stock stiffening ribs to allow for a one of the larger pins. Off the top of my head I think it was the pivot pin for the bolt release.
Finally, the hole in the rear grip was no where near molded/drilled straight to where it would line up with the receiver. I had to open this hole up a bit and take a little off the back to the stock so the receiver would move back a bit to align with the hole. I also put a little cone-shaped point on the longer rear bold to help it get started into the hole. The original screws had this.

I may have had to open up the hole in the stock for the bolt release. On a side note, I ended up breaking off the sliver of plastic on the trigger guard where the bolt release goes through. Not a biggie. I just smoothed the edges off with the Dremel.

Update: 15 boxes of 333 round bulk packs for $14.96 at Walmart. They only let me pick up 6. I can get more after work if anyone needs some and they are still there?

Walmart must be pricing their ammo based on location. I picked up the same ammo yesterday in Temecula for $9.97 + tax. They had about 50 boxes on the shelf. Only took three. Was looking for Federal Automatch so didn't buy the 6 box limit.

What would be better in terms of noise report? I have some remington subsonic HPs and they are still kinda loud. I'm trying to find something I can fire off in my back yard while sounding like a pellet gun.

Also, I looked into the Aguila 60gr SSS ammo. I know it says it will cycle any semi auto but has anyone tried it in the marlin 795? Allt he reviews I've read say its works great in the model 60 and its super quite. CTD has it on sale for 38$ a brick.

I machined the ATI stock at work today and now everything is an exact fit.

I was dumb and didnt take "before" pictures but I will be sure to post detailed "after" pictures for those that may need them. Gun is looking titties now. I just need to get my optics mounted.

Spring rod

I dissembled my 795 yesterday for a good cleaning after a trip to the range. After watching this Marlin 785 Takedown video, I thought it was a simple job. But now, I'm stuck with this problem. I can't get the spring rod to go back into the bolt without bending it. Does anyone have any tip?

I just took mine completely down for the first time the other day. The spring should have a guide rod inside it, the guide rod goes toward the rear. Now put the spring into it's spot in the bolt and start putting stuff in it's place. Put the guide rod end of the spring into it's hole in the receiver and compress the spring by pushing straight back. You should be able to now slip the bolt into place with it about 1/4" away from being in the closed position.

Sorry I can't give you any more detailed info, I don't have the rifle on me at the moment so can't tear it down to try to mimic your issue, I'm just walking you through how I put the bolt back together. Oh yeah, don't forget to slip the cocking handle in place!

Over at rimfirecentral.com someone had a method:
taking a plastic straw cut to length then split, stick the spring inside of the straw and tape it. Insert the spring rod assembly inside the action, then remove the plastic straw that prevented the spring from bending.
I never needed to try this; but I would imagine the straw would need to be fairly short to allow the spring to compress while inserting.

Hello all!! First post here and Im not even in Cali

I just bought a 795(last night) for 119 at Sports authority, background check and ammo was like 136.97 plus the 25 rebate will drop it I only bought a couple 50 round boxes to keep the price down

The flyer in todays paper had it on sale again for 119.00 for the week

I took it out today with my daughters 12 and 9 and ran a box of rounds through it...only 1 dud and 1 shell stuck not bad

we only killed 2 plastic pop bottles at 25-30 yards...I didnt even try to sight it in just yet..wanted to get the kids more comfortable with it first.
We did manage to hit the bottles a few times, I ended up finishing them off with the 12ga
