Just took the 795 out once again and this time I shot winchester super x and shot those pretty well. I did have a few FTF and one FTE, overall I shot over 300 rounds. I thought I read somewhere on this thread regarding FTF. I put the mag in released the bolt and nothing, I had to pull the bolt back and eject the round and it did fire the next. happened to me about 4-5 times. Anyone know why this happens? I cleaned and lubed the rifle to perfection. I did take apart the action to clean it and lube it also before taking it out to the range.

I freaken love this rifle, it is crazy accurate, I was popping a steel target in the shape of a small bird at 150 yards like nothing.

thanks. i field stripped my gun for the first time and found little pieces of metal around the insides. I have sinced cleaned it (or attempted to anyway) and hopefully my next round of shooting it won't jam so much

I just got my Marlin and have shot it twice now. I've been using Golden Bullet because my S&W 22A likes them and I have a couple boxes. It's worked pretty well in the Marlin. I've also shot CCI Blazer, MiniMAGs and Federal Target. All worked fine, but surprisingly MiniMAGs just weren't accurate. I had a weird problem today though. I put in a loaded mag, released the bolt, clicked the safety to fire, squeezed the trigger and nada! No bang. Then I'd try again and bang. It was weird, not sure what the deal was.

Anyone have any similar issues?

As far as jams go. I had read that it's a good idea to clean the action before shooting due to the manufacturing process leaving chunks of metal and gunk inside. Before I shot mine I opened up the action and blew it out with compressed air and found small pieces of metal and the barrel was also very dirty. Since then I've only used dri-lube in the action. I like the lack of gunk collecting to a minimum, unlike an oil based lubricant. Hope you get your issue figured out.

I ran hoppe's gun cleaning solvent in the barrel a number of times and i oiled the bolt and inside the chamber.

It's my first firearm unless you want to count that pellet rifle i have. Did i just get a lemon?

Also, I noticed the gun jammed less when i wiped off excess oil. Does applying too much oil cause jams?

edit: also, does the gun feed round nosed bullets better than hollow point?

I think your rifle is fine, unless I have the same issue. I haven't done tests with different hollow points, but I will tell you that my 795 does not like Winchester Super-X even though the Marlin manual recommends it as one of the ammunition choices. I will have FTE at about 1 per magazine with that HV round.

Did you clean it thoroughly and lightly lube it before shooting?

Not sure what it's called. I was using Federal Bulk Hollow Points.

What ammo works well for the Marlin 795? I read up that it like Remington golden bullet and blazer or something like that tho. Please advise.

Heard bad things about the Remington Golden Bullets and nothing but good things about Federal bulk and CCI Blazer. The only time I've had jamming was when I first shot my 795 with Winchester Super-x.

I got the 795 out of jail on Tuesday and was at the range on Wednesday and had a blast. Unfortunately it hated the remington bulk ammo I had but had no problems with mini-mags.

Super accurate and awesome to shoot, I am so glad I replaced the horrible Savage 64 with the 795.

Yeah not sure how well it works. I have the same bipod for my 10/22 but I'm using the picatinny rail. I got a Winchester bipod from Walmart for my 795 and that screwed directly into the sling studs on the 795.

That bipod should come with a swivel sling attachment to go onto the sling attachment.

Thank you. That's what I thought from looking at all the pics in this thread, but it just seems like it would be unstable. Guess not.

Extreme noob question: How do I mount this bipod, or one like it, to my 795? Does it attach to the same spot where the sling attaches, without any modifications needed?

It's 9/16.

I think you mean 9/64". 9/16 is a huge allen key.

9/64" and 1/8" are very common in firearms from my experiences. Also there is no metric equivalent for 9/64", 3mm is close but doesn't always work. I also recommend a folding key set of allens since I always loose my 9/64" key.
