50 pages!! good lord!! i went through the first 4 and page 50 and my eyes started to water.. lol.

Anyway, I picked up a 795 and bought this stock.

I understand that it takes some work for this to fit the 795 as they are cut for the m60. I have tried to look for some king of tutorial or thread for pics or instructions on how to make the necessary modifications to fit my 795 but I cannot find one that's clear enough to follow..

I will try to take a step by step pic as soon as I get the it out of jail on Fri. Unless someone out there can help with woodworking skills. I am mechanically sound but not nearly when it comes to woodworking..

    Thanks everyone.

Shooting to the right with iron sights

      Hey guys,

I've been shooting to the right with iron sights at 25 yards.

How would I fix this problem?

Would I have to take a punch tool and hammer the rear sight to the left or to the right?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you move the rear sight the direction you want your groups to move. So if your groups need to move left move the sight left. If it's the factory sight you'll need a brass punch to drift it over a tad. My rear sight is way off from the factory. I just put on some Tech Sights so I don't care to fix it.

In regards to sights. Just remember that the rear sight is near you, so it is your friend and will do what you ask of it. This means if you need to move the shot group to the right, move the rear sight to the right. If you need it to go up, move the sight up.

On the other hand, the front sight is far from you, so it is your enemy. It will do the opposite of what you want it to do. If you want to move you group left, you'll have to move the sight right and so on.

This is a great way to remember it.

here's a sight from my trip to the range last night with the 795 running CCI Blazer at 25 yards resting on my elbow

If anyone has repeated issues with their rifle, contact Marlin support. I had a bunch of fail to fire and eject after I got mine, tried 3-4 ammo types with no change. I was a little miffed with the quality control. Shipped it to the service center, they said the bolt and chamber weren't machined quite right. They fixed it up, and it's run like clockwork ever since. It doesn't care what ammo I feed it, and it's super accurate.

I've done 2 of them a Tacticool and a Sky Blue Rimfire Hunter / Target.

The current Boyd's stocks are not cut for either the 60's tube (so no need to fill it like you had to in the past) or for the 795 magazine area / extended trigger guard.

Pretty much all you need is a coping saw, a small set of chisels and a hammer.

Trace the outline of the trigger guard onto the new stock.
Measure and try to duplicate the open magazine area on the original stock.
Using the coping saw cut out this area
Take the chisel and with it pointing directly vertical with the sloped side facing in toward the material to be removed hammer it in creating a wall outlining the area to be removed.
This is important because when you remove material it will stop and pop off easily at the edge.
Using the chisels edge normally remove the material (taping the chisel with the hammer can help) trying to not remove too much material at one time.
Repeat chiseling the walls as you get deeper.
Always be mindful of where your hands are when using the chisel!

Here's a topic with some good photos of what to remove
Just a quick heads up for anyone in need of an aftermarket.... Boyds has the limited production Tacticool going on right now.... $79.00 for anyone interested :bthumb: http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/

I got a little excited and forgot to take a pics of the outline i had done inside the trigger guard area i had just finished cutting out. However, this is the template i used to draw that outline.

here is what it looks like after it was done.

I made sure i didnt remove too much inside. GO SLOW! it may take 2-3 fits til u get it right. BE PATIENT! Even an amateur can do this with PATIENCE. This is my FIRST!! And i think I did ok... Next time though, I will make a template so i can use a router..

                            here is my finished product.

I bought a DIP trigger kit/magazines/and another stock from a fellow calgunner. Price was awesome so I couldnt pass it up. Now i just need to get me another 795 for my nephew. My niece picked out the blue color so the other will be for AJ.

I believe only certain SA stores sell firearms. Our store in SLO does not! They don't even carry anything firearm related unless you count the paintball stuff

MarCay: Great job on the stock, I have always looked at those and wondered how hard it would be to mod it to work, now I'm inspired! Thanks! I hope she is a good shooter, best of luck!
