The Walmart slings are typically just 2-point carry slings... for Appleseed positional-shooting you will need a USGI sling, which is probably best bought from the CMP directly for a little more than 8 bucks (after shipping):

What's different about the USGI sling?

It's designed to let you hold it a certain way to stabilize your aim.

You can stabilize your aim with a basic 2 point carry sling as well(you probably just won't have the cuff as an option). It also happens to be that a USGI sling is dirt cheap, so you might as well get it anyway.

I got the $10 sling from Big 5 and it has a cuff on it, in case someone doesn't want to place an online order.

yeah the "hasty" sling works with any 2-point setup, but if you plan to do Appleseed, they do a bit more than just hasty sling...

What's a good way to hold the 2point slings for stability?

scootle just posted that, it's called the "hasty" sling(and there is a variant or two of it). I can get almost as much stability out of that compared to a cuff, without having the rifle strapped to my arm(which to be honest is really annoying). If you had a sling with a cuff that had a quick detach from the rest of the sling, it'd be a lot better(they do exist, but they're more expensive).

This gives a pretty good explanation:

Has anyone tried the larger magazines? I found this one and the price seems nice, I have been trying to find the stock one but everyone is out of stock.

Are you guys still having a hard time getting the magazines? I do live in Michigan if that makes a difference. I have checked Dicks sporting goods, Dunhams sporting goods and Walmart so far and no luck.

Uhh, it doesn't exactly do a hell of a lot of good for us here in CA since no one can sell them to you. Unless you plan on doing appleseed out of state and need rebuild kits there isn't much point.

Yea this is a California forum so your not gonna find any reviews or ways to get them here.
All reports are that they majorly suck

Went to Sportman's Warehouse in Provo and bought the Shooter's Ridge 25 round magazine for the Marlin 795. It was $19.99. Took it home and looked it over, then loaded it with 25 rounds of Federal Champion 525 Value Pack copper plated hollow point ammo. This morning I went to the...

I was at Sportsmans Warehouse the other day and noticed High Capacity magazines for Marlin 70/795/ etc... The package was marked "Made in USA" and the brand name on front was "Champion". Turned it over and it had "Onalaska Operations" address listed. Anyone try these out yet? Oh yeah...

Now Marlins have high cap mags too, standard market design, should be reliable. Big Shrek, where are you? http://www.gunknowledge.com/forum/index.php?topic=279.0

Yup. Plus I remember Nutnfancy doing a youtube review on these and said they sucked. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PukEsTaPhx0

Dick's Sporting Goods has the Marlin 795 on sale for $125. It was $160 out the door plus the $25 mail in rebate. My 11 days is up on Nov 18th

I got a couple of bricks ready to go. Need CDNN to have a sale on the mags, or a shipping promotion again. Still debating whether to buy the $75 TechSights or mount the Weaver 1-3x scope I have sitting around..

I just spent ~250 dollars today (not including the $25 rebate from Marlin) and that didn't include any extra mags, trigger work, or supercool grip mod and paint job.

If you like the cosmetic work done to that rifle and you can verify the trigger work was done properly I say buy it.

Have you looked online? Buds sells tham for a little under $12. It is $10 to ship so it is only worth it if you are buying several.
