Did OP ever get this resolved?

I shot my new 10/22 last Fri for the first time. I had one failure on just about every mag. They were ejecting but then getting stuck halway out right as the bolt closed. I was so excited to shoot this thing, and then was very frustrated that it didn't just work right out of the box.

Is this a warranty issue, or should I try one of the ten different things mentioned in this thread??

Thats a stovepipe, they are very common with new 10/22's.

I highly recommend shooting it a bit and then doing the things mentioned in the thread, most are very cheap and at the end of it you not only know your new 10/22 better but it actually becomes one of the better 22 autoloaders out there.

Of all the ammo I have tried in this one, the only ammo that works has been Remington Golden Bullet. That's all I've done to "fix" the problem.

I'm pissed off because it should be able to shoot just about any .22 ammo. I've had a couple other 10/22s in my life and neither had issues.

Maybe I should try replacing the extractor as others have mentioned, but for now it stays in my safe and never gets shot....that's my actual (temporary) solution.
That's funny. My 10/22 and 22/45 hate the Remington Golds. FTE's with those all the time. Anything else....No problems.

          Tweak or replace the ejector.

The ejector is what kicks the empty case out of the receiver, sounds like you need to slightly bend it to get the empty out at a different angle so it doesn't get caught.

Look at the original extractor carefully using a magnifying glass.
Sometimes the stamping operation takes away some material right in the hook to case contact area.
If yours is missing material here, replace it.

Use a Volq/ Kidd / PC extractor or, if the contact area is OK, modify the original one to look like those.

              I use the original spring.
I advise against make any rim fire extractor spring too strong or you run the risk of ignition by extractor contact while chambering.

SFC, do a detailed scrubbing of your chamber, change the extractor/spring. Strip & detail the magazines you use, I use 0000 steel wool to polish the feeding area of mine. The action should be really smooth when you cycle it.

I had a total POS 10/22 & now I wont trade or sell mine for anything. It's radiused, crosspinned, fixed ejector, jeweled bolt, re-headspaced, semi-polished receiver, VQ extractor to name a few improvements.

All you should have to do is scrub the chamber, disassemble the mags you are using, Detailed cleaning of mags & change the extractor/spring.

You are welcome to try my 10/22, I'll even provide ammo. I cannot get it to malfunction at all, even with subs down to 1050 & less.

There is a lot of misinformation on this thread.

My 10/22 came new with a firing pin that was so bad that it would light strike the round and gun failed to fire. I called Ruger and they Wanted me to send the gun back to them. This was a brand new gun. Took it to smith who fixed it in 10 min. Ruger is not what it once was.

Failed to mention my new 10/22 came with a firing pin spring that was bent & installed backwards. Not to mention a crappy extractor. First I fixed the stovepipe issue then it was failing to fire a lot.
