I have a 10 round Savage mag for mine, and it runs great.

Here's what mine looks like in a Boyds stock, 5 round mag installed:

      Hey gang,

Thanks for posting pictures of those Savage rifles.......... you are all savages, now I am getting restless to buy another firearm.

I intend to pay off my Ruger GP 100 from BUDs, and now those pictures are tempting me into getting one of those kinds or rife, or a Browning Buckmark, or, or.

Most every gun magazines are talking about the round....... it is faster than the 22LR and therefore has a flatter ballistic curve, it is " more devastating " than the 22LR with in sane shooting distance ", " it could supplant the 22LR within a few years ", etc. etc. etc.

Now, hardly anyone is talking about it, nor do I see much rimfire firearms chambered for it.
It's alive and well, thank you very much.

I had a problem finding .17 HMR no-lead during the rush/hoarding but no problem now .17 HMR is my short range ground squirrel gun.

.17 Winchester Super Magnum, gets all the press, magazines always pimp the newest stuff, but I have not seen a no-lead load for it.

Long Range squirrel gun is turning out to be .20 Practical, it has many no-lead bullets available.

Also own a savage 93/17. It's a laser gun out to 200 yards. Zero at 25 yards, 1.75 inch high at 100 yards, back on zero at 150 yards, 5 inches low at 200 yards. It's all gravy until you start dealing with a wind....

Amen to that. After pricing out the 17hmr per round, never looked at again.

Hey there WH, the stock is laminated wood, model 93R17-BTVS. Not sure about larger capacity mags, heavy barrel is dead nuts on. A buddy and I would shoot at clays from 100+ yards and still be able to call out pieces we would aim at and have no problem hitting them. The rifle does prefer the 20 grain bullets to the 17 grain when faced with cross winds.

The new A17 looked like an interesting companion for my Savage 93R17 bolt gun (which, like others have said, is a very fun tack driver):

But... as of this morning I have chosen to go a different direction with a new 17 HMR rifle

I've just got a "thing" for lever actions.

On the A17 I called Dick's and they said they could order me one but nobody has any ammo for it yet,
I would hate to buy a gun and not be able to shoot it. There are no backorders on ammo from Dicks so if they have ammo 3-13-15 I will buy one but if they dont have any ammo I will stick to the 22 hornet.

WTF? The A17 is said to function with any 17HMR ammo currently available Were they thinking only CCI A17 ammo would function in it?

Maybe the clerk thought it takes the new 17 WSM rounds....

Manufacturer lists it as 17 HMR.

I see 17 HMR ammo for sale commonly. It's .22LR that's hard to find.

Did they say when it would be in? According to my FFL the A17 has been released, but there aren't any to order. I suspect they maybe be trickling them into the market with the memory of the B in their minds... Just in case.
