Exact same setup I plan on buying in the next week or two for my WASR. It's hard to tell, due to the focus, but is this scope getting a [very] lower third cowitness with those 30mm rings, or is it barely out of reach?

Sorry. This will be my first magnified optic where that would have even been a possibility, so I had no idea. I just expected 1x to be unmagnified. No matter though. I still intend to go with this setup due to the fact that the scope actually seems to sit low enough on the AK to be comfortable.

Got two, one spoken for. Interesting feature - the switch that acts like a filter on Obzor acts differently on NIT. It seems to turn off regular day-time reticle and activates tritium illumination.

Very interesting optic for sure. Was able to take a few pic of it today.
Sight has an eye cup but it does not require eye relief, so I think it'll be fine with eye cup removed, should speed up target acquisition as well. Although this is more of a precision sight vs reflex/red dot. There was an article published in Russian of this sight beating nearly all others including Kobra in fast follow up shot and accuracy. Like most of the newer Russian sights, it was designed for precision one shot kill at 400 meters.
This sight has both Solar & Tritium illumination and two levers, the one of the left side blocks solar cell-window and uses mirror (in the up & down position) to project tritium light on to reticle and the lever on the right side flips contrast filter up or down. Unlike Obzor that has contrast filter sealed inside housing, Nit-A has filter on the outside (in front of front objective. Both levers have a solid and nice positive clicks when operating.
The height (chin weld) can be bothersome for someone who's not used to it but with practice it's not that bad. Those who used in competition found it fast enough to beat many other sights.
Being developed in early 90's they were definitely ahead of combat optic R&D IMO.
What I find interesting or even unusual by our standards is that when a company introduces a new product or newer generation one, it phases out production of the older model. Not quite the case in Russia, this optic was first came on scene in 1994 and 20 years later it's still being manufactured even though there are newer successors to it.

All in all, I like it. It's definitely a unique optic among my AK glass collection.

So I've got a PA 1-6x scope that I'm planning on mounting on my Saiga. Are there any side rail mounts similar to the Midwest industries scope mount, but less ugly and can provide more eye relief?

I got my Christmas present (paid present ) from our valued member Spb_La.

It's a PO3.5x21P, I'm very impressed with this optic. It has a very wide field of view and some of the clearest glass I've seen. Better than our issued ACOGS and better than my Rakurs-A. The reticle picture is blurry because its aimed at my wall 5 feet away, so don't use that as a measure of clarity. It's battery illuminated red with a CR132 battery, no oddball battery. The range finder on the left is for prone targets, the one on the right standing targets. I will say it's a big bastage though!
