I was thinking of moving up to 15x from 10x for this reason also.

Personally, I had a Weaver Tactical and sold it in favor of a Viper Vortex PST, which I like better. There's a guy here selling them new for $770 for the FFP, 6-24.

My favorite optic for long range is my SWFA 5-20 FFP. Best glass I've ever looked through for the money. You can sometimes pick them up used on Snipers Hide for $1000. That's where I got mine.

For lower cost stuff, I'm definitely going to look in to the Primary Arms stuff as I've always heard pretty good things about their quality (for the price) and top notch customer service.

For the 1000.00 to 1500.00 range, the Bushnell 3-21X HDMR with G2 Reticle is the cat's meow. Great glass, good power range, and FFP

If you really feel the need to use it as a CQB rig, get a dot sight mounted to the scope like all the high speed squirrels.

GAP10 in 308win, 22" Bartlein Barrel, Badger 1 piece 20MOA mount, and blah blah blah. Lobs 175gn SMKs to 1K with 11mils of elevation.

That is a good looking setup.

beats the snot out of Vortex 4-16x50 (sorry Vortex fans, but that scope sux! - yes I know, 6-24x50 is supposedly better)

Weaver glass is uncommonly clear (made in Japan) and with FFP and illumination - at its price-point, its really, REALLY hard to beat!

Another great look is Bushnell Tactical 2.5-16x42... it is SFP, the magnification range and extremely clear glass is great for AR10. I recently replaced this scope on my M&P10 with the Weaver mentioned above. Glass clarity is comparable (exceptionally good!) - but I prefer FFP... willing to sell the 2.5-16x42 if interested.

I also recently acquired Bushnell 6-24x50 (for 308 bolt gun - too much for AR10 imo)... the glass is also exceptional for the price - however, it's the illuminated mil dot version and I subsequently bought the G2DMR version... so, selling the illuminated mil-dot (great for hunting rifle) - if interested.

Sorry if it seems like an infomercial - but after shyteloads of research, these are all exceptional bang for buck scopes... the one competitor left out is Vortex... I have a 1-4x24 that I am relatively happy with (illumination isn't great - sent it in - they said it's fine)... but 24mm glass is what it is (regardless of brand)... According to "reliable" reviews, the 6-24x50 is good... I can tell you first-hand, the 4-16x50 is crap.

Clearly there is Nightforce (many say over-rated - I shot a 338 Lapua with it, meh)... SWFA has it's following - and being combat worthy, they are hard to ignore... but bang for buck, Weaver Tactical and Bushnell Tactical are very hard to beat.

              YMMV (not likely though).

                +1 on Vortex products.

I have had time behind their PSTs and own 2 Vortex Razors.

For a company that has been in the optics industry for less than 8 years, they are whooping butt.

My long range .223 AR wears a Razor and it has served me well. Another big + for them is their customer service. If you ever do have a problem, they are ON IT.

Very nice, GAP was on my short list of 308 rifles when I found the LMT available. I am still gonna order one at some point also and your pics have motivated me futher.

Thank you. I just threw up a better pic of the rig.

Just to motivate you some more.

Here is rounds 15 - 20 out of her at 100yards. Keep in mind I don't drive a gas gun for sh*t.

This is a rapid fire group at 800yards. As fast as I could acquire the target and pull the trigger on 3 rounds. I got a lil happy and failed to hold for wind so I was about 1.5' off the target on the cardboard.

While I think LMT are fine rifles, a buddy of mine was breaking his LMT the same day I broke in my GAP10, let's just say there was an LMT for sale that next week and a GAP10 order placed.

Yes, I think the GAP is about as close to a precision bolt rifle as you can get with a semi auto AR10 platform. I was set to go that route but just did not want to wait that long and jumped on what was available. I think after the holidays I will get re-acquainted again and look to start the process of one of their builds. You know they say the only thing better then one good 308 rifle is 2 good 308 rifles.

I agree that chart looks off but his feature scores are based on scopes which fit a very specific criteria for extreme long range shooting. If you took the time to watch the video it would make a lot more sense vs just looking at that chart without any context.

You should watch the entire series by Rex on YouTube… that dude is extremely knowledgeable and knows what he is talking about.
