Thanks, Dimitri... actually, I was hoping you could suggest the best mounting system to attach the ACSS 1-6 to my 716.
I'd like a quick-disconnect type that allows re-attachment without re-zero, such as a Leupold QRW (LaRue QD are just too expensive for me)... just not sure which mount would be correct for your scope/my rifle.

Burris PEPR would be the only option at a significantly lower price. Thanks, Dimitri... actually, I was hoping you could suggest the best mounting system to attach the ACSS 1-6 to my 716.

I would still verify zero after remounting no matter what the mount. And be sure to blue lock tight everything.

For the $1500 mark, look into a used nightforce 5.5- 24x 50 or 55
Great optics.
Hold up to box drills and a lot of use on the turretsRule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

If your going to spend that kind of money look at these two scopes.

I put a bushnell XRS on my 308 AR, but I have a 24" barrel, if you have a short barrel it might be a bit ridiculous.
I have an M223 on my other AR (5.56) but if I could do it again I would get a Bushnell DMR.
If you want the best precision and rigidity I would probably avoid a QD mount. I have been satisfied with my JP mount, but there are others that work well too.
With the JP mount and a torque wrench and a level I didn't have to touch the zero when re-mounting my scope when changing out my gas block. Might not be that lucky every time but it should get you damn close!
Honestly this would be a good scope if you want to shoot a good distance:
"Bushnell Elite Tactical 3.5-21x50 HDMR" that's the one in your budget.Last edited by Justintoxicated; 10-05-2013, 12:07 AM.Comment

I hear ya. Been really busy, got promoted at work, but good busy. I am in here reasearching a new scope for my 308 bolt action and for one of my 10/22's. I think I am going to go with the Vortex 4-16 FFP PST for my 308and a Nikon 3-9 EFR for my Ruger. Hope all is good with you as well.Comment

Nice, congrats on the promotion at work. I haven't used either of those before but have seen a lot of good reviews on Vortex optics. Will be up in Havasu for 6 days over Thanksgiving tues through sunday. May try and get out and shoot one of two days while I am up there also if you are going to be around.Comment
