    I would agree with LBDamned
Weaver tactical 3-15x50 is ridiculously overlooked!

beats the snot out of Vortex 4-16x50 (sorry Vortex fans, but that scope sux! - yes I know, 6-24x50 is supposedly better)

Weaver glass is uncommonly clear (made in Japan) and with FFP and illumination - at its price-point, its really, REALLY hard to beat!
Just picked up a Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 with EMDR illuminated reticle for just over $1k from amazon. It will end up on my newly built long range AR 308 rifle. Have been using it on the AR15 at the 100 yard range, very comfortable to use and no tools required for zeroing. Did a lot of research and it seemed to fit the bill. Will let you know how it works out. Long range will really tell how well the scope works and how well it returns to zero.
I had some help in selecting this scope from Rex in a Youtube channel Sniper 101. Here is a table Rex created in scope selection. Very helpful, also watch the video in his series on Optics Selection.

    Lights out !

I wanted give an update- I checked my Amazon account and the scope was purchased for $829 + tax It can be easily returned, no questions asked. LBDamned pointed out to that
      Grabagun has it for $750 + 6 shipping http://grabagun.com/weaver-tact-3-15x50-ir-emdr.html
shipping is actually a tad higher but that was ok. So save over a $100 (BUCKS) Benjamin and keep my money out of Gov Brown's greedy little hands.
      Thank You LBDamned !

      Lights out !

OK, when a site shows a Swarovski and Nikon scope getting a D and a D, and a Barska and Falcon get a C and A, something is seriously off.

I wouldn't base the quality of the Weaver Tactical on that... there are plenty of reviews out there - but first hand use is best way to be satisfied. I've not been disappointed (and don't know of anyone that has).

It really is an overlooked scope.

ETA: I'm sure the table takes cost into consideration... some scopes aren't worth the price, others are great value for dollar... the Weaver Tactical happens to be a great scope that is priced very well... Definitely in the league of Bushnell Elite and Vortex Viper PST (but cheaper than both - with as good or better features).

The Nikon got a D because second focal plane reticle and in regards to Swarovski Rex has a short review of that scope here http://youtu.be/qSOL0zKnees the grade was really on that one particular scope . I would by a US optics before I would send that kind of cash over to Europe. US optics would probably be my next choice, that's just a hot dog'n it point of view at the moment. Beside they are located right here in Cali !

Vortex $899 FFP 30mm tube MOA or Mil
                6-24x50 XLR recticle.

I know I can't afford ever a Schmit Bender or NF
But for me this is darn close, for my use.

The OpticsPlanet 11% off deal is good until 10PM PST this evening, coupon code 11YAYBD. I just used it to get a Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6x for my AR10. Nice scope for everything 0 to 700 yds out.

Get something with more magnification if you want to shoot long range . I bought the burris mtac 1-4x tactical scope and returned it for a leupold vx1 4-12x40 and I can actually see my targets and hit consistently out to 500 with a lwrc m6a2 . My friends have 308's bolt action and lwrc repr with trigicon 6-20 and they hit up to 1000 yards pretty accurate .
