That's just weird. Maybe done just for photo to get the girl's eye in focus.

LPVO with offset red dot

One thing that can be problematic with getting used to a canted RDS is the need to shoot from unconventional positions like a right handed shooter laying on his right side to shoot under a car. Or shooting from your weak side. Barrier obstructions. Stuff like that...
I would think it would take far more practice.Last edited by ScottsBad; 09-05-2020, 12:25 PM.sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.Comment

Everyone is different so this is what works for me.
I have an LVPO so that I can make long and short shots. I run my LVPO on 1x 95% of the time. I shoot to 600 on 1x semi regularly. Now when I do, I need a stable shooting position and will exercise proper marksmanship techniques. In that situation, I will have time to zoom the scope in.
I’d only run a separate red dot if I were trying to shave seconds from my course time.Comment

You’re on point I’d say, I only gave the offset RMR a chance because I had one laying around, I do got to say it works better than I had thought, on Monday I drove pretty far to my friends private range and when I was shooting around barriers and cars, the offset red dot worked really well when I had to lean out of cover. At one point he had me training with the offset red dot as primary optic and leave the LPVO on magnification, which I’m still not a fan of because my thought is it defeats the purpose of a LPVO.Everyone is different so this is what works for me.

All depends on what you are doing.
2 optics puts you in open in most Multi gun and rifle comps.
10 years ago, when i was shooting a lot of 3 gun heavy metal especially, i ran a 3x9 and offset irons for close up because you couldnt have 2 optics in heavy metal.
Now i have a 1x8 strikeforce and its the best of both. I would run offset irons with it to keep from being open class for those quick closeup shots and transfer to distance again.I support peace through superior firepower.

Competition is different than real life. I can't imagine real life situations where you'd be shooting someone at 10 yards and then be in a big hurry to shoot someone else at 300 yards.Comment

That’s the exact same thing my friend said but it’s easy to assume magnification is used just for getting hits at distance like you said and I told him in his video games he already knows who’s bad or who’s good and it made sense to him after. We were assigned Acogs which is only 4x and 90% of our engagements were well under 300 yards but what people don’t realize in real life is a term we use called PID where we have to positively identify a threat before firing. Even at 100 yards the magnification helped identify if that is a cellphone in hand or a weapon. Acog was only alright, we were trained to shoot both eyes open inside close distances with both eyes open with it, but wish we had access to LPVO, I saw guys in MARSOC run LPVO.Comment

This sounds right to me. There are two things I really appreciate about LPVOs and I believe we are mostly on the same channel. That’s the exact same thing my friend said but it’s easy to assume magnification is used just for getting hits at distance like you said and I told him in his video games he already knows who’s bad or who’s good and it made sense to him after. I like the ability to use 1X, but have the option go to 6X or whatever. And I like to be able to better identify what I'm shooting at with higher magnification.
The last advantage to me is having an etched reticle in case of a dead battery.
Most of my optics are Aimpoints and Trijicon MROs, but I decided to try the newer LPVOs (I always used 1-4x in the past). I picked up a Trijicon Creed 1-6X and for the money I am very impressed.

In competition, LVPO has such a small objective usually, even at 1x (especially ones that aren't true 1x), that real close targets can be hard to get a good aim on particularly where the target is partially obstructed by cover. Getting a clear line up is needed to judge the over-bore offset so you don't put both rounds into the hard cover (usually the black paint) and up scoring two misses. I don't have an offset yet. I'm on the fence whether if/when I finally get one I switch the main to a 3-9x instead of 1-6x. Either way, it also hugely helps for weak-side barricade shots if you suck at shooting weak side and/or don't want to take the time to switch shoulders and grip. Competition you take every second you can. That's why the offset sight even for those running a red dot on top. Sometimes there's a barrel you have to lean around but the shoot box is set up so you can't step around.Comment

Good video and I’ve seen it, some online don’t like Lucas but I’m okay with his videos.
I don’t get to practice or train enough since my wife lost her job and I’ve been working 12 hours a day, otherwise with enough training the LPVO can be as fast, but for now I sold the Eotech Vudu LPVO and sold the RMR too and bought a Eotech EXPS3 and magnifier, I know that combo is oldschool now but that’s what I had the most training with and had used for the past 10 years and ran courses such as Vickers class with. I’m definitely going to jump back in to LPVOs once work lightens up and I have more time to train and take classes.Originally posted by gwgn02G-shock, a good way to tell the time, and better way to tell the female variety you are unworthy mating material.Comment
