LPVO with offset red dot

I keep my LPVO at max magnification and use the offset T-1 for <50m shots. Also, it's faster to scan for targets at distance using the RDS and then once you PID a target, hold the RDS on the target and quickly switch to the LPVO. Your crosshairs will be on the target.

Depends on your AO, I suspect.

300 yards is a L-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-G range shot where I am - FROM the rooftop!!! Too MANY obstructions and terrain features to get a CLEAR shot any longer than that.

I keep MINE on "1;" if I NEED to climb to the roof, I'll adjust accordingly.

And keep practicing on the 200yd. range at my local outdoor range.

That sounds like a good reason but I stopped by Taran Tactical few weeks ago and spoke to them and they said running offset red dot with red dots were for hard leans, makes sense for serious competitive shooting but not for me. LPVO with offset red dot is still probably the best all around application but wasn't for me either, I sold my Eotech Vudu 1-6x and offset RMR and went back to the oldschool flip magnifier, works for this old dog.

Interesting problems to have at the top levels of competition!

Seems a lot of the LPVO's don't have daylight bright illumination, which really does make it not as good as a red dot. The Vortex Razor HD seems to be the best in class for LPVO's, not only in terms of daylight brightness, but also glass clarity, eye box, and how the optic's body disappears once you get behind it.

Taliban often engaged us from 300 and out, especially from buildings. They're not stupid.

But, as you said, not your average AO.

He's the Fieldcraft Survival guy. The two guys in the Garand Thumb video posted earlier work there too.

The reason for the dot, especially in competition, is there are times you can't get behind a scope properly, behind the eyebox. Go through a VTAC barricade sometime, every port.
