Face palm all you want like I've said I've owned several high end scopes and have looked through several high end scopes I would not pay that much for a S&B when the glass is not the much better than a scope that's a $1000+ less.

Id take any of the scopes mentioned in this thread over the S&B...I've looked through one side by side my gen2 and the S&B had a tiny bit better color but other than that I did not see a big enough difference to warrant the extra money.

S&B has been the gold standard for so long its what other manufactures strived to be, that being said I don't think they are the top manufacturer anymore, other companies have been innovating and the market competition is great!

Agree 100%!!!

I'm not knocking them because they are fantastic scopes but just not as much now with all the others stepping up the game.

Schmidt dumped their prices dramatically recently. They understand they can no longer charge their outrageous prices.

Matter of fact I nearly purchased a brand new pmii 5-25 for $2180 or so... but decided I couldn't do cw turrets.

Hmm I believe most folks that use high end optics, when they refer to a company, they are not referring to their budget lines, they're talking about the cream of the crop.

Anyhow enough about this. Arguing about this is stupid as hell.

Like Mike said, there are budget to high end... hell, even Schmidt and Bender has low end scopes.

So now you guys are saying S&B and NF make $100 chi-com optics with their logo.

I have never seen a NF optic, made by NF, using chicom glass, selling for $100. Until you show me that scope this isnt an argument.

NF, like Ferrari, makes a specific type of gear, at a specific price point, to avoid any questions on the quality of the item(s) they make.

When someone tells you they have a NF on a LaRue mount, in your mind you know that is high end quality gear.

When someone tells you they have a Vortex on a Burris mount, does that say the same thing to you? It shouldnt. I have many friends with Crossfire scopes on PEPR mounts. Its good solid gear. Its not NF level gear.

Vortex , Athlon and even Bushnell, Simmons, Nikon and a few others have awesome offerings at a set price point. That does not get them into the NF grouping, even if their gear is at or better than NF.

I know appliances. My company manufacturers not only the standard stuff, but we also own the worlds top line as well as what most Americans think of as high quality.

So we have all three "tiers" in 3 different companies. We do this for a specific reason. We dont want our High end customers who pay over $100,000 for kitchen appliances to be grouped with the people paying $5,000 for the same 5 or 6 appliances. Is it ego?, yes it is. Is there a difference in the appliances?, you bet there is.

Are the appliances built the same, hell no. When you pay $15,000 for a refrigerator, you know you got something above the standard offerings. The same when you pay $9,000. You know you paid for a step above the normal "home depot or Sears" frig. We like to think we also make a great $2,000 frig and we do. It is just as good as all the other $2,000 frigs out there.

Now lets take appliances as the focus. There are a few different brands also, but there is no way a person is going to group Kitchenaid and Gaggenau or GE and Gaggenau together. Both Kitchenaid and GE have a high end brands that mimics the quality of Gaggenau, but no Chef walking into a GE Cafe` kitchen is gonna have the same impression as walking into a Gaggenau kitchen. Or if I tell a Chef I have a Kitchen with all Kitchenaid appliances, in their minds they are not thinking of the quality seen in a Thermador kitchen even if I have all Kitchenaid "Elite" appliances, which many people think is the same quality as Thermador.

Ford is not in the same league as Ferrari, even if the Ford GT is the same as a F488.

Im ignant on that, never seen one, never held one, completely out of my league . I'll stick with using LaRue and American Defense as my go to examples. Those I know.

As I said, I'm a poor guy. I went with Athlon and American Defense.

I switched from Leupolds to NF. My first was a 12-42 BR and my latest is an ATACR 7x35 F1. I absolutely love these scopes, but you should look at each one and decide for yourself.
