    Night Force Scope

Does anyone own a Night Force Scope? What are your thoughts? Any better recommendations? I will be using the scope for a remington 700.

    I have 2 one on each 50bmg.
Great scopes. Like Leupolds on steroids.
Top of the line type scopes.
Overkill on most Rem 700 but to each his own.
    They are great scopes
    Not many better.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

They are amongst the toughest scopes made today. Their cream of the crop is the ATACR line in both second focal plane and first focal
      Plane varieties.

I have had the nightforce nxs 2.5-10 on my scar 17 for over four years now, absolutely no complaints, the glass is on par with scopes of double the price, the turrets have proven to be dead reliable and the thing is tuff as nails(durable). Only negative is weight but for the durability I'll sacrifice the couple extra ounces of weight. If I was in the market for new glass I'd buy another night force without hesitation.if money was not an issue I'd opt for the S&B but I have too many other hobbies to invest that heavily in quality glass.

I have an ATACR and a NSX and love them both, very clear and large field of view.

I thought the B.E.A.S.T was the cream of the crop?

Anyways, they are great scopes. You won't go wrong with one.

Vortex, schmidt & bender and US Optics are a few other great brands.

Hmm in essence you are correct, but the only tangible difference between a BEAST and a 5-25 ATACR F1, is the turret design. Everything else about them is exactly the same.

And now with the advent of the 7-35 ATACR F1, it's questionable what the cream of the crop is.

Regardless, they're the best Nightforce has to offer... as opposed to the NSX or SHV line.

I have a NXS on my .308 700 because, I bought it that way. I have NXSs on two of my 50BMGs because, they are great scopes. If I get another NF, it will probably be a BR model and use it as a dedicated 1000 yards scope so, I won't need the range but I'll like the finer adjustments.

I love my NXS. Good glass. Excellent mechanics. ATACR is beautiful if you need the higher mag.

Also look at Leupold MK6. I like those as well, but their price is hilarious. If you're in the 3k+ range, start looking at S&B and Henny.

I was just looking and researching scopes. I wouldnt expect to find a single review of a Night Force scope that wasnt favorable. Well not from a person who actually owns one.

Vortex really shouldnt be classed with schmidt & bender and US Optics. While great stuff, they are primarily a Chinese manufacturer with some good quality Korean / Japanese /US Glass as well.

I have been researching Vortex as well as Primary Arms and Athlon Optics. All are about the same quality with a few lines better then average in quality. I went with Athlon over Vortex. Its all the same glass with all the same tech most likely manufactured in the same place. Athlon just offers the same quality & Warranty for less money. PA is way cheaper due to their limited warranty.

So if you are going to group Vortex in with schmidt & bender and US Optics, you need to add Athlon Optics and Primary Arms to that group as well.

I surely wouldnt add them to that group.

Okay, I got the BEAST.. I run it on my Desert Tech rifle.

I've had NSX scopes in 5.5-22x56 and 12-42x56.

This is my 12-42x56 on my .416 Barrett.

Nightforce scopes rock. Period. They are amazing. Their glass isn't the best. They are mostly second focal plane scopes.

I bought the BEAST. I wanted a first focal plane scope that is tough as nails and has great glass. I understand that Nightforce buys the glass for the BEAST from Germany, like S&B. I think the glass for the ATAC is made in the U.S. The other glass is made in Japan. Every NF scope tracks like a Rolex watch. People complain about the wedding cake turrets, but they are smaller than the Bushnell Elite Tactical. Plus, I think, THINK, it is lighter than the Vortex 4.5-27.

You cannot go wrong with a nightforce. If I had to risk my life using any scope, I'd make sure, damn sure, it was a nightforce. If you're rough with your guns and scopes, then Nightforce is for you.

If you're just competing with it or hunting, then I'd go with either Nightforce or Vortex. Leupold (sp) or Burris are nice too. Nikon too. SWFA scopes are good, but I don't own any.

Nightforce scopes hold their own. Their value doesn't really decline. Their warranty is second to none. You'll love it. If not, you can always sell it, usually what you can sell it for or more. If things get really bad, you can always use a quick detach to beat someone to death, remount it and it will shoot .000000000000000000000000001 MOA at 1,000,000,000 miles, with the right ammo of course.

My guess is he was referring to the Razor line at Vortex.

The new Razor GenII and AMG can easily go head to head with Schmidts, NF and the line. I have compared a lot of alpha glass, and the new Razor line is phenomenal.

I do agree with you on the chicom stuff though. ugh

Vortex makes a scope for just about every price range. The Razor scopes are top notch and have better features than even some scopes that cost a few hundred more.

I also do not think comparing the Viper line of scopes to Primary Arms and Athlon is fair. Although thats excatlly what many people on the internet do.
