It depends if you're looking for a Single Focal Plane or Front Focal Plane scope between those current models. The NXS series is now only in SFP while the ATACR's can be had in SFP and FFP while the BEAST is FFP only.

Doesn't the Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 come out of the same factory as Nightforce?Light Optic Works in Japan? I also remember reading that Vortex installs the Razor turrets here in the states.

Doesn't matter if they're the same factory. LOW builds to customer specs and that can be crappy to excellent. NF and Vortex Razor are absolutely excellent.

Vortex really shouldnt be classed with schmidt & bender and US Optics. While great stuff, they are primarily a Chinese manufacturer with some good quality Korean / Japanese /US Glass as well.

I have been researching Vortex as well as Primary Arms and Athlon Optics. All are about the same quality with a few lines better then average in quality. I went with Athlon over Vortex. Its all the same glass with all the same tech most likely manufactured in the same place. Athlon just offers the same quality & Warranty for less money. PA is way cheaper due to their limited warranty.

So if you are going to group Vortex in with schmidt & bender and US Optics, you need to add Athlon Optics and Primary Arms to that group as well.

I surely wouldnt add them to that group.

You wanna lump Vortex in with Night Force, then put PA and Athlon there too. Its all the same stuff. Athlons top of the line is hundreds less then Vortex and its the same thing, with the same warranty, so I guess by your standard Athlon is Night Force quality. In fact there are several comparison videos on YouTube where Athlon is superior to Vortex.

do you realize Athlon is shown to have better quality the vortex on several youtube comparisons at all price lines. Not just the low end, for which Athlons low end is actually compared to Vortex mid-line.
Athlon mid line is compared to Vortex higher end line, and Athlon highest line is the same as Vortex highest line at less cost.

So when you are willing to admit Athlon is Vortex Quality and Vortex is Night Force quality, then you need to state Athlon is the same as Night Force as well.

I await your public outcry that Athlon is just as good as Night Force because Vortex is just as good as Night Force.

No public outcry here for any scopes really, I don't shoot any of these optics that are being talked about. I did have the Vortex 1-6 HD2 years back and it was an outstanding scope. At that time I don't even think Athlon was around, if so maybe it was another company.

How is Athlon in the competitive shooting field? I know people shoot Vortex with great results.

My guess is he was referring to the Razor line at Vortex.

The new Razor GenII and AMG can easily go head to head with Schmidts, NF and the line. I have compared a lot of alpha glass, and the new Razor line is phenomenal.

Yes - I was talking about the Razor and AMG line.

I actually just picked up the HD II 4.5-27 for $2050 out the door from OP.

I was shopping around and looking at other brands but could not pass it up.

My only complaint is that it is on the heavy side. The AMG is much lighter.

Almost everyone is saying the Vortex and Athlon lines are neck and neck. Athlon is just hundreds less in price, which is on purpose to gain market share.
