My no4 mk1 has a 7rd mag does anyone else have any 7 rounders?

Sounds like you have a NY compliant mag since its only 7 rounds. IIRC all Enfield's had 10 round mags (at least the ones from WWII and post war).

The original Lee-Metford of 1888 had an 8 round magazine. Maybe the 7 round is one of those?

SMLE...one thing about my Lithgow...no bayo lug or little round thingy on the forward band. Know anything about that?

Perhaps someone ground it off for some unknown reason?

My only Enfield rifle is a 1915 Sht.LE. Unfortunately, it's a wall hanger since it was designated "DP" (Drill Purpose). However, I do have a 1932 Enfield No.2 MKI revolver.

This forum doesn't let you upload pics from phone photo album like most others do, damn. Maybe tomorrow I can upload a few from one of those clunky image hosters.
Anyway... Favorite rifles hands down. So far I have:
1905 no 2 mk 4 converted at Parker Hale into .22 trainer in 1949
1914 BSA no1 mk 3 in original configuration with original shot out barrel
1916 LSA no1 mk3
1917 BSA no1 mk3* Ftr'd in Australia
1918 RSAF no1 mk3* Irish Freestater FF (my favorite)
1941 Longbranch no4 mk1*
US cousin 1918 Eddystone model 1917, original barrel super clean, Canadian leased for ww2
Maybe one day jungle carbines will grow on me but I'd rather spend the money on a long lee or lee speed or more trainers.

I just got a No 5 a short while back as part of an estate sell off.

Now I think it looks lonely and needs the company of a No 4
